Ended up going to Hela Spa in Polanco for a spa day. Highly recommended. Please keep in mind that I'm not a spa snob so take my experience with a grain of salt.
I got the Platinum Package which includes a 50 minute massage, an 80 minute facial and a body scrub for $4,600 pesos, which is an excellent price by my standards. The body scrub could've been more abrasive. The scrub itself was pretty smooth, I prefer a granier scrub and the to they used was just nubby. I prefer a brush or something harder. The facial was pretty intense, she really got into my pores. Mentioning bc some may not like that amount of pressure on their face. But I enjoyed the attention to detail. The service was about 3 hours but I was there for 6 hours bc they had Jacuzzis, a steam room (could've been much hotter) and a lounge area. I just hung out!! Lolol. It was so relaxing! The valet Ms. Juanita was very attentive. She brought me water, hot tea and dried fruit. Would love fresh fruit instead. Would've also liked having the option of eating lunch there. I had to run to Starbucks before my service to eat something so I could make sure my stomach didn't growl while getting massaged.
Bring a bathing suit!! They don't mention this when you're booking. luckily they had a disposable bikini. ❤🧖🏾♀️

A great experience. Very welcoming and relaxing environment. Made me feel very secure getting treatment in my third trimester. Left feeling rejuvenated.

I had a very uneven experience at Hela Spa. Generally speaking, the individual therapists and valet/attendant were great, but items that fall under the realm of management to create a cohesive and enjoyable customer experience and atmosphere were lacking given the prices one pays for this spa. Facilities look a bit shoddy in real-life (versus the lovely photos you'll find online) and I found the attention to the full customer experience were lacking (safety, communication issues, attention to detail and coordination, etc.)
Good things: Therapists were knowledgeable, skilled, and had good customer service skills. The attendant would bring me beverages and warmed pillows to wrap around my neck while using the relaxation area and was generally very attentive. Location of the spa was convenient for me to get to from where I was staying.
Poor Follow-Up Communication by Management/Administrative Team on Treatment Types and Confirming Appointments: When I initially wrote to Hela Spa via email to make an appointment, the booking team was quick to respond with a treatment menu in English and Spanish with all prices noted. I wrote back to ask for three treatments. While the booking was made, I had to email and call to confirm the booking went through since the radio waves went strangely silent after the initial email. So, I would suggest administrative staff be consistent in confirming appointments. Also, I found out from the therapist just minutes before the treatment that two of the three treatments I scheduled required some further clarification and sequencing. For example, because of the extreme cold sensations of the revitalizing leg treatment, it might not have made sense for me to do that just before my facial. While the therapist I had was thoughtful enough to explain these things when we met and we did the best we could, the management/administrative staff should have known enough about the treatments to make that recommendation at the time I made my bookings or at least 24 hours before the appointment while confirming the appointment too.
* Tardiness: My first appointment was scheduled for 10am. I understood that with the treatments I booked, I would be at the spa for about 3 hours. However, my treatments didn’t begin until 10:45am. I know there are cultural differences in timing and some people come to a spa with the intent to leisurely stay there all day. Not so much for me. I would appreciate more prompt service in the future, otherwise, what is really the point of having an appointment schedule? There are other things I wanted to do in the afternoon I had less time for because of the late start at the spa.
* Jacuzzi Accident: I arrived at the spa an hour before my appointment (so I could use the Jacuzzi and steam room). The vigorous bubbles of the Jacuzzi made it impossible to see through to the bottom of the bathtub. This is an important detail because I assumed the tub was flat bottomed as most generally are. It wasn’t. My foot got caught on one of the steep inclines of the textured tub surface (the tub was shaped like one of the ergonomic “relaxation” beds) and I lost my balance upon entry. That is to say, I fell into the tub, bruising my knee because I had no way of knowing there wasn’t a flat surface below; the attendant didn’t warn me, no signage indicated the tubs were shaped in this manner, and the handrails next to the tub don’t extend the entire length of the tub, so it was hard to grab something quickly. I’m not an elderly or impaired in my physical ability, and I had an accident getting into the tub - I'm lucky I didn't sustain a serious injury. Can you imagine what could happen to a less able-bodied person trying to use the tub? That is an accident and accompanying lawsuit waiting to happen.
* Moldy Steam Room and under-maintained facilities: I enjoyed having access to a steam room, and the touch of mint or menthol used in the steam was very nice. However, when the steam subsided and I could clearly see the ceiling, it was covered in black mold. That is just dangerous from a public health perspective and must be dealt with immediately - regularly cleaning and ventilation in the off hours would do it. The last shower stall in the ladies locker room had a shower head that leaks even when fully turned off. Additionally, in that same shower stall, the glass door couldn’t close all the way – the door seems to be cut incorrectly and gets caught on the floor. I noticed that same inattention to detail in the gaps between wall and door frames elsewhere, the peeling fabric on the relaxation beds, etc. All these details I would accept at a lower-priced facility, but based on the prices/brand proposition of Hela Spa and the fact it is located in the Presidente Intercontinental Hotel, a luxury brand hotel, I found the lack of quality in the facilities very poor.

Dear Guest,
I´m sorry to read about your bad experience at Hela Spa.
Our priority is to give you the best service and this is not acceptable.
Our staff is trained to recommend the treatments that you need and the order in which you should take them. I will talk to the person that made your appointment and make sure this won't happen again.
Also, I will check what made your appointment to start so late as we work with a precise schedule and this shouldn't happen.
For the jacuzzis. Your feedback is really appreciated and we'll make sure our valets let the customers know that they don't have an even bottom to avoid accidents.
We are renovating the facilities and expect to be finished soon.
I'm glad to hear that Esmeralda did a great job, I'll pass your comments so she keeps doing it.
Thank you very much for all your feedback, it helps us to improve.
Best regards,
Silvia De Lara

I spent 4 hours trying to book a home service. The app does not work if you have a US number. They don’t except foreign cards. I was told I could pay with my card and had to go back and forth with 2 different people for 4 hours only to not be able to book and given the wrong information. VERY DISAPPOINTING and and waste for my time on my vacation.

Total lack of hygiene. Noise and rude staff. Even the therapist was rude and in a hurry it seemed. Facilites are not well kept. The decay is very apparent. I have known the place for years.
When complained to the receptionist about the noisy people in the lounge and resting area, her respond was “ they did not listen to us”!
I left more stressed than when I arrived.
Go to the St Regis spa or any other of the hotels in the same street.

Very very pleasant experience. We (couple) have had package for couples with 50 minutes massage. Personal was exemplary thoughtful, massage was excellent. It started by legs, ended by head. I've been in seventh heaven then sweet voice told me into ear "could you rotate and lay on your back please?"... It was just after first half of procedure. Thank you! See you next time...hope soon!

Went to the Spa at the Intercontinental in Polanco- Absolutely amazing experience- super friendly staff and had a hot stone massage that is by far the best massage I had at any spa abroad. Booked a facial for tomorrow. The jacuzzis were great because you lie looking over the park- and they are individual jacuzzis which I loved. Good hours because open til 10pm every day- very recomendable

This was my 2nd visit to the spa. I had a 80 minutes full body massage. The masseuse was great, I wish I could remember her name for my next visit. The place is relatively small but very well kept and nice. The showers and locker rooms are starting to show some wear and tear but overall the place is great.

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your review.
I'm glad to read that you liked your massage and that you plan to come back. When you book your next appointment please ask for the last masseuse you had and we'll be able to tell you who it was.
In regard to the facilities, I appreciate your comments and assure you that I will tend to any problems in the locker rooms so when you come back you find everything to be perfect.
Kind regards,
Silvia De Lara

Overall, I'd say this was a worthwhile experience. Both my husband and I had the deep tissue. Honestly, I had some bruising from her pressure point technique on my calves and bum, but... It was tolerable not terrible. The rest of the massage was certainly thorough and above average. We also took advantage of the spa tubs (co-ed) and steam rooms ( in men's and women's locker rooms) The tubs weren't hot enough... And staff was only Spanish speaking, so communicating with my limited Español was challenging....
I would go back again without a doubt.
