Universidad Autónoma de México, UNAM, Central Library is an important cultural institución and it is placed in a unique building designed by Gustavo María Saavedra and Juan Martínez de Velasco, architects, and Juan O'Gorman, painter, sculptor and architect. The works began in 1950 and the library opened its doors in 1956. This is one of UNAM landmarks. The ten storys... More

I visited here with my wife. I used Uber from the city central to here and it cost around 90 Pesos (5.5 USD) for one way. The wall paintings on 4 sides of the building were impressive. Each of them has theme such as Azteca on north side and Spanish tyranny on south side. I wanted to know the inside... More

This is the National Universities library. Decorated on all sides by murals from one of the best artist's this country has produced; Juan O'gorman . Stand at the plaza and admire, then walk around it. The stones used for the creatin of these murals came from every corner in Mexico

This was one of the highlights of our trip. This is an absolutely gorgeous campus. All of the students that we encountered were very helpful in giving us directions around. It is a little bit south of the city so it takes some time to get down there, but if you have a free morning I would definitely recommend it.

We have seen many of the major tourist attraction in and around Mexico City so this trip we added a few new lesser sites. This may not be #1 on a list but for its UNESCO (2007) listing and architectural merit it is worthy of a visit. From Centro (Condesa for us) and using public transit, get on Metro line... More

Not very touristic friendly since it not really a tourist site, but simply a university, but worth stopping by to check out the enormous gorgeous murals and sculptures.

I didnt go inside but its definitely worth a drive by to see the way the tiles form the facade. The soccer stadium where the olympics were held many years ago is nearby as well, quite impressive.

On a sightseeing-tour – after a delightful sailing experience in the canals of the Xochimilcho Floating Gardens – the bus-tour-company had prepared a bullfight-experience for us tourists. However, my wife and I see the inevitable result of a bullfight as comparable to the inevitable Endlösung in Auschwitz. Luckily, 11 km south of Zona Rosa we passed the UNAM Library (vis-à-vis... It's a l-o-n-g subway ride from the center of the city to UNAM, but it's definitely worth the trip. The campus is beautiful and the library's exterior is just gorgeous - Mexican murals at their finest. The atmosphere on campus is charged and edgy - I'd imagine that's what US colleges were like in the 60s. Across the street is... More
