Easy to get to via public transport, the neighbourhood is definately local, not many tourists. It is free to enter both the grounds and the building. To enter the building you need to sign a register. Once inside it is quite a surprise at the quality of the restoration. Inside the building are also some relics with explanation, though only written in Spanish. Its small and doesn't take long to walk around(1hr or less). Its a pretty place to take pictures and i wish i had taken more than my mobile to do so. About a 5 minute walk away is a supermarket (soriana) if you want to picnic on the grounds, or there are plenty of street tacos between the metro station and the convent. Probably not a must see in Mexico, but if you are looking for something to do then certainly worth having a look

Culhuacan is a beautiful monastery/museum dating from the 1500s, with unusually fine fresco murals and a small, interesting museum. It is also used as a community center for the Culhuacan neighborhood. A peaceful, interesting place to visit.
