The Center was well laid out and had art in nearly every medium. I was especially intrigued by the excavated Aztec objects, banquet hall and gathering space. The fifth floor includes an outdoor overlook across Centro Histórico. A great opportunity to hear the lively beat of the Zócalo below and take great photos.

We went to the center to see the remains of the Aztec temple in the basement then stayed to look at the contemporary edgy art. Really beautiful building with a large modern extension. Lots to see. Went for lunch in their beautiful restaurant Jamon J. Jamon-delicious Spanish food, large wine list, on a wonderful terrace looking over the back of the Cathedral. We will definitely go back.

I was on my way to El Museo del Caricatura when I spotted this place. (It's very close to the museum.) The staff at the front door almost invited me in. They have a sign that says shoulder bags are prohibited, but the security guard took a quick look inside and let me carry it through.

After you leave the main entrance, you pass a long, tall mural that has various "mosaics" repeated throughout. (A photo I'll attach to this review explains why they call these mosaics.) Most of the artwork was contemporary prints; I've enclosed a photo looking up from the ground floor toward the mezzanine.

Hint: The building has entrances on both Donceles and Guatemala. That makes this a nice place to pass between the streets, along the middle of their respective blocks, rest a bit and see some art along the way.if you go up to the mezzanine or the first floor, you mostly have views down on the same artwork you saw from the ground floor.

This free museum contains revolving exhibits of art and culture from Spain, usually contemporary in nature and often quite interesting. For years, I always made a point of eating a late lunch here of genuine Spanish tapas at its open-air rooftop restaurant, but no longer. After my last (very disappointing) visit, I learned that the restaurant facilities had been leased out to some large corporate food company. Luckily, there are plenty of good alternatives.

This centre offers interesting exhibitions, out-of-the-regular-circuit movies and a fine restaurant (which I don't know so I can't talk about) in a historic setting which actually includes a Site Museum part of the huge Templo Mayor site. There are always three or four temporary exhibitions displaying photography, sculpture or painting samples of Spanish or Mexican artists. You can access the building from Guatemala or Donceles streets. Fully recommendable for a cultural lapse in between your major touristic visits witm great views from the terrace. Ah, and it's free !!

This is a huge building with expositions, lecture halls, a terrace etc. For me, the most important attraction was the "museo del sitio" with a few rather exceptional archeological pieces, including a colorful mask of Ehecatl and examples of ceramics from various periods. Very quiet, peaceful, well lit but mysterious. There is a big chance you will be the only visitor there. There is a rather imposing archeological construction in the middle of the museum but unfortunately the explanations are all in VERY advanced professional scientific Spanish. Probably it was the basement of the original Aztec house on which the Spaniards built the present house.

The rooftop and terrace are the best parts of this cultural center. There isnt a lot of art but it is free to visit and makes for a nice break from the bustle of the center.

While the building outside do not mean a thing. You go inside and go the the basement and you will find one of the most impressive aztec remains of teh school for the nobles. It also has a footprint of one ot the workers. Impressive to say the least.
