Worth a visit when you are in Chapultepec Park. The history behind it: Young soldiers, also known as Niños Héroes, gave their lives during the Mexican-American War in 1847 when they were trying to defend Chapultepec Caste. The six columns stand for the six young cadets.

As a US citizen and historian, I felt the need to pay my respects at this monument to the brave boys who refused to let an invasive, imperialist army from my nation capture the flag or themselves. I am happy to have seen this monument, and spoken a few quite words to the souls of these long lost heroes. There is no greater patriotism than what they had and I hold them in the highest regard. Rest in Power

This monument is at the entrance of the Chapultepec Park.
It is dedicated to the six young cadets that refused to abandon their positions at the Castle of Chapultepec during the US invation of Mexico in 1847. The cadets are seen as heroes and inevery history book there is a
I would not recommend you go out of your way to visit this monumet. But if your hotel is near the Zona Rosa, it might be a good thing to walk to Chapultepec Park and the monument is on the way.

The monument to the 'Los Ninos' is not so much about how impressive it is (which it is) but what it is about? The monument were erected in tribute to the five Mexican juvenile cadets who sacrificed their lives in a last ditch stand against US troops in the 1846-48 war with Mexico. When the US troops ravaged their way across country winning battle after battle, the savage battle of Chapultepec was to be their last one. After the battle Mexico lost the war and half of its country to become what is now the US Western seaboard. The bravery of the five cadets who gave their lives for their country has been immortalised in these five towers and this is a very powerful and symbolic place for all Mexicans. It sits at the foot of the great castle of Chapultepec and is surrounded by a great park and nearby is the anthropology museum, the Reforma and other great sites to visit. You can spend a whole day here seeing sites and relaxing. A great memorial, and a symbolic place....

Althought is a quick stop while visiting Chapultepec park, is a must see for its historical meaning and architectural beauty. One of many interesting spots in the park, and if you stand with the monument on your back you get to see the view of the Paseo de la Reforma avenue at its very begining.

This monument has a lot of history behind, once you are there and if you meet somebody that can tell you the history of it, it is very interesting. This monument is located in the park close to the castle Of Chapultepec. We took some pictures and spend no more than 30 minutes around, it’s recommended if you don’t have anything else to do.
