What a dream. The house is beautifully conserved and if you are lucky one of the son (extremely knowledgeable and incredible nice!) will give you the tour. This is one of Barragan’s last projects. Everything comes so beautifully together. The simplicity of forms. The vibrancy of the colors. The perfectly thought transitions. To visit this house is a gift for your senses and your soul.

Please excuse the lengthy review of a small place. The Good: It’s a wonderful space. The design is simple, the paint colors are brilliant and the outdoor spaces and pool are beautiful. It’s an example of less is more. The Less Good: It’s not really a tour. There’s a 5 minute intro given by the less than enthusiastic son. The rest of the time is spent walking around unguided. We were there for maybe 1/2 hour. The Bad: Although I enjoyed my time there, it made me kind of sad. It seemed more like an Instagram destination than an architectural endeavor. I don’t really blame the family for taking advantage of it, as the color schemes, balconies and painted glass windows lent themselves to beautiful photos (of which I partook also). Nothing wrong with that, I guess, but it left me with an empty feeling. In addition, the cost (not including the surcharge to take photos) is about 4X the cost per person of any of the National art galleries in Mexico City. Let that sink in for a second. I guess that’s where we’re at in 2020.

we took our time to visit the Giraldi house. friendly staff. book by phone or email. is a private house, so some areas are not available. but its worth the visit. you need to pay an extra fee if you want to make pictures in the inside.

It is a traditional mexican designed house. Although pretty, tour is short, and not worth the 15 dollar tag per person. There is mostly two courtyards and one hallway to see.
