Splendid Market in a Charming Neighborhood
Of course, Mexico City's delightful Roma neighborhood has a market that's worth traveling far for. Mercado de Medellin quite simply has everything your heart desires in terms of fresh produce (meat, vegetables, etc.), grocery items, and, at the same time, a wide array of small, budget-friendly eateries offering genuine, local food. We enjoyed strolling around and marveling at the mountains of beautifully butchered chicken before stumbling upon a tiny spot that served an excellent chicken soup for 30 pesos per portion. On the way out, I found an old-school barber who, with an electric shaver, managed my sparse mane in just 10 minutes. Price: 150 pesos. If you appreciate authentic local markets and happen to be near Roma, Mercado de Medellin is a must-see.

Real locals market full of food and not just tourist souvenirs
We were heading back to hang out at the roof deck of our friends, so we went by the Mercado to get some supplies. Olives, cheese, spices, almost anything you could need for cooking up a meal can be found here. It's a cacophony of music, lights, smells and people yelling. Love it!

A taste of true Mexican markets for a visitor, with great prices.
You can find house wares, all kinds of meat, and a variety of tropical and non-tropical fruit here. Not all the tropical fruit is as tasty as you would like to imagine. Definitely worth a visit if you like fruit, or have a place to cook. Prices are reasonable Uber rides for visitors are cheap.

A wide array of fruit, vegetables, meat, spices, or just anything edible and other items as well. I wanted to buy everything, but had to remind myself that I was staying in a hotel/ I settled for mangos, cherries, and pistachios. I felt like I let myself down by not being able to walk out of there with enough staples to host a dinner party for 30 people. I wish we had a market like this in the BVI.

We stayed in an airbnb in the Condesa neighborhood called hipodromo area which is next to the Roma area. This mercado was 1.0 mile way. Pleasant and a quick walk. Safe clean and lots to buy. Great restaurants nearby.

This market is very easy to access, especially as a tourist, beeing located in the very popular area Colonia Roma. It is a bit pricey, but the quality of the food, vegetables and fruits makes up for it. They also have several places to eat and to go for a coffee. You do get the experience of a real mexican market!

I love this place to buy a morning snack like a juice or fruit.

They have an area to buy vegetables and fruits, meat, and hand crafted stuff. If you are around you should take a look

I came to this market because it was down the street from where I was staying. No regrets! Absolutely loved it! So much of everything from fruits to ingredients and food from places like Venezuela and Colombia. I ate at a restaurant here, but cannot remember the name. It was delicious. The outside of the market is quite colorful as well.

We were staying in Roma Norte and had heard about this neighborhood market in Roma Sur. Great walk over, with great street life, so typical of Mexico City. When we walked in there was a little bit of everything. I decided to get a hair cut at the tiny barbershop. Then a stop at the fresh juice bar. We perused the butchers and vegetable stands. Bought some hot sauces, then had a nice lunch in the fantastic little food court.
I highly recommend a visit to this spot, to anyone who wants to understand the reaL DF...one of the world's GREAT CITIES !

This is such a great market if you are a seafood lover. The ceviche, soups are super-delicious. Looks of South American stuff (think Colombian coffee) lots of fresh fruits veggies, meat. My favorite market from what I've tried in Mexico.
