I attended this school for two weeks, and I cannot say enough positive things about this place! My Spanish improved dramatically. Moreover, I made tons of close friends, discovered a new favorite city in Mexico, and dived into a unique, vibrant, and welcoming culture. This is an excellent school offering professional and tailored lessons and a phenomenal overall experience. I hope to come back one day.

I attended classes for three weeks as a beginner. I choose La Hacienda Spanish school because of the wonderful reviews. Intimidating as it was, the teachers were welcoming, friendly and enthusiastic about teaching their students. I attended four hours per day and my day was filled with conversation, grammar and vocabulary. Inside the hacienda is private and secure and comfortable. Each teacher brought their own unique teaching style and personality to the classroom. Each class was structured with a teaching plan but if there were questions, each teacher would patiently explain or be willing to go off topic to help each student understand. The founders, Esme and Luis are true professionals and you can tell teaching is their passion. I spent two hours a day with Luis and his teaching style is full of patience, and he has a knack for understanding where each student's level and experience is. Luis is extremely is personable and makes you feel proud of yourself when he's teaching you and celebrates small victories when he sees that you've finally gotten a new concept. I highly recommend Escuela La Hacienda for the comfort, teaching and expert level of the teaching staff. You definitely cannot go wrong with this school and their leadership and style of teaching.

I attended 2 weeks of classes and look forward to returning for more! The teachers were excellent. Very enjoyable! I learned a lot. I took a combination of grammar and conversation for a total of 4 hours a day. I recommend without hesitation. Nos vemos pronto!

I really can't recommend Luis and everyone at La Hacienda Spanish School enough. If you are anything like me, you are reading this because you are considering going to Guanajuato to learn Spanish. And all I can say is: do it! You won't regret it. Especially if you do it with La Hacienda. They are incredible teachers, who not only are masters at their craft of teaching the language, they are wonderful people. I spent 6 weeks at La Hacienda from Dec 2021-Feb 2022, and I miss everyone there dearly. They will get your Spanish going no matter what your level is - they are great about tailoring the instruction to your specific needs, and helping you along your grammatical and conversational progress.
I will also note that while in Guanajuato I met several other people who were there learning Spanish, and my classmates and I at La Hacienda were by far the happiest with our experience.

My trip to Guanajuato and the time spent learning with Luis, Esme and Andres at La Hacienda were the best of my life.
The founders and teachers have expert grammar knowledge, and are well versed in the literature and culture of Mexico. Conversation classes offer endless opportunities to practice speaking alongside other driven students. The grounds and building are epically beautiful and inspiring. I can’t wait to return for another round of immersion!

La Hacienda is the best place to learn Spanish in Guanajuato. I had a wonderful experience, and feel that my Spanish has improved by leaps and bounds in a very short time.
The teachers are kind, compassionate, patient, and have a high level of skill in teaching Spanish. They are all University trained and have many years of experience which shows in the way they can keep a class interesting, and relaxed, yet organized.
The school is set in an old Spanish style building with a beautiful garden, it feels open, and welcoming, definitely a unique place to study spanish.
I had a wonderful time there and would go back in a heartbeat. Stay as long as you can!

Seriously, DON'T even bother looking around at other schools. I went to Guanajuato looking for Luis and Esme because of the fantastic reviews online, and found that they had moved from Adelita to start their own school, La Hacienda. Before committing, I visited a couple of other schools in the area but the difference in quality was so apparent from the very beginning. You cannot go wrong with any of these teachers - all 3 of them are absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable, patient, and fun. You are not automatically qualified to teach Spanish just because you speak Spanish - and these teachers absolutely have the knowledge and skill to make the material accessible, interesting, and so super fun!
Not to mention, the new location is just BEAUTIFUL, and I often spent hours there after class ended just because it is so peaceful and lovely. Everyone who walks in oooh's and aaaah's. What a beautiful place to study.
Listen - there is a REASON why all of their students are so loyal to them, and why I am writing a tripadvisor review for the first time in my life right now. I promise you that you will laugh, I promise you that you will leave Guanajuato as part of a new little family, and I PROMISE you that your Spanish speaking abilities will just skyrocket. They were my favorite part about my two months in Mexico and I can't wait to go back to see them again.

This is the third time that I took my Spanish classes with Luis. I really enjoyed taking my one-on-one conversation classes with him at La Hacienda Spanish School. He's very patient and kind. He always explains and answers all my questions precisely. Our classes were full of laughter and time simply flew by quickly. He also cares about his students and I highly recommend him to you.
After taking five weeks of classes with Luis in Guanajuato, I decided to continue my Spanish studies with him via Skype twice a week. The Skype classes have motivated me to continue my studies and I look forward to seeing him face to face next winter in Guanajuato :-)

I've had the opportunity to study with all three of these teachers. They are excellent language teachers with training and flexibility. No matter what your skill level, they can accommodate you.
In addition to language skills, this is a great way to learn more about the beautiful city of Guanajuato. Esme and and Beto both grew up in Guanajuato, and Luis not far from Gto. All three of them are incredibly nice and funny. The other students are all ages and come from many countries. Getting to know them is a part of the experience. I enjoyed both the small group (about 4 students) and private classes.
I have taught English as a foreign language overseas, and I assure you, there is a big difference between a trained teacher and someone who simply speaks the language. Give yourself the opportunity to study with great teachers!

There's a reason why students have followed La Hacienda teachers from school to school over the years as they continue to develop new Spanish learning opportunities in Guanajuato. Simply put, they exude a warmth and kindness that puts you at ease and welcomes you into their ever-growing family of student friends. Learning Spanish in an environment like that is a breeze and keeps students going back year after year.
I studied with Luis and Esme in February of 2014 for three weeks (at the previous school they co-founded, Adelita, where they were the lead teachers for 5 years). As an advanced student, I took four private classes a day and one group Latin American literature class. I was mainly interested in brushing up on grammar (and the pesky subjunctive!) I was really impressed by Luis' and Esme's knowledge of Spanish grammar and the thoughtful ways in which they taught it. I looked forward to every class, the laughter, the interesting conversations, and my increasing confidence with the language. Learning with them was so enjoyable.
My experience was so meaningful, that I continued with Skype conversation classes after returning home from my time in Guanajuato. Four mornings each week (for three months) Luis and I conversed about love and life and work and play in Spanish. It was like having a therapist...who gently and unobtrusively corrected my grammar – Lol! Most importantly, my Spanish fluency skyrocketed.
I couldn't be happier to hear that Luis and Esme have branched out to start a new school in a much more spacious and beautiful setting. I can't wait to see it when I return to Guanajuato to continue my studies with these fabulous teachers!

How did you get in contact with the school? I've been emailing them and filled out the form on their website and no one has responded to me. Also their phone number doesn't seem to be on WhatsApp.
