    Can't miss the view!
This second visit we took a taxi from elsewhere that left us a few steps away from this view. I'd previously climbed up the stairs wondering if we're on the right path. In any case, this is a must for any visit to Guanajuato. The Pipila monument itself is an attraction you can climb up a narrow staircase to reach a view from the flame. For those less inclined, the view itself does the climb justice. I'd definitely do it again for future visits, and hang out up there and snack/drink to enjoy the view.

    Awesome views, Go early!
The views from atop are amazing. The usual tourist-oriented scene is up there, vendors, hawkers, restaurants, etc. There's also a hotel up there, too. I was in Guanajuato during the Day of the Flowers festivities, and, I visited on Friday morning around 10:30-11. (I might've just lucked out; but, I literally just walked on the funicular without much waiting). It's 70 pesos, one way. There's 2 carriages that hold around 12-14 persons each. My strong recommendation is to visit earlier in the day. Afternoons, and weekends most likely see the longest lines. (Also, you can take a taxi to the top, but, with a funicular what fun is that). I saw people walking up, but, the guidebook says go in a group and don't carry valuables.

    Breathtaking views particularly at night
The view from the statue is the best of the city particularly at night. It is very pleasant to go from behind the Juarez theater and take the Tran that takes you uphill to see the statue. It only takes a couple of minutes to go up and down the hill and the view from up the mountain our breathtaking definitely something you want to experience.

You MUST visit this. The momument itself is meh but the views offered from there are incredible. You can see most of the other attractions you have on your list from up here. 10 pesos will allow you to use the binocular machine stationed at the top. Take the funicular up and then back down (the stairway down in dirty, smelly, and filled with dangerous obstacles-definitely don't walk down with kids). Funicular is 35 pesos each way and is a fun video opportunity. Buy souvenirs from one of the many vendors or nearby stores, drink a michelada at a restaurant, or get some street food. Also, take a photo with the grim reaper while you're up here.

One of the best places to visit in Guanajuato is the monument to the pipila which has an excellent view from the viewpoint towards the city of Guanajuato, it is perfect to enjoy it day or night as well as enjoy a beautiful sunset. The trip was guided by highly trained tourist modules and guides. Without a doubt, from the viewpoint you can have a good memory of the city of Guanajuato.

Don't miss this spot! Th easiest way to get to the Monument is to take the funicular from Jardin de la Union (about a block away) to the top. The view from the area around the top of the funicular offers a spectacular 180 degree view of the Guanajuato valley, with colorful houses stepping up the hillsides. The funicular is 36 pesos each way (you can ride up and walk down, like me, or ride both ways). You can then climb to the top of the Pipila statue for an additional 7 pesos or so, which makes the view even better. There are some vendor stands selling snacks and trinkets, similar to what you'll find elsewhere in GTO. I spent a good hour up there and really enjoyed it.

Guanajuato is a beautiful city, where cars can't drive on narrow streets. So the Funicular up to El Pipila is a must-do activity! Inexpensive and fast, it takes you to
the highest point over the city under a statue of the famous Mexican war hero. Spectacular views, venders, snack carts, and many benches provide the best Guanajuato photos. If you want, you can then walk down an alleyway to see other wonderful sights. I did, and the whole experience showed me new places to go. Susana Orranti, an excellent Cacomixtle tour guide, pointed the way to sights I hadn't seen from downtown.

As part of a travel group, we stopped at this statue which overlooks downtown Guanajuato. The views from here are breathtaking! After numerous photo ops, we took the steep, muraled stairway down to the town (the funicular was not working). We went to over 10 cities in Central Mexico and Guanajuato was my favorite. Centro is bustling, day and night, with lots of people, food, mariachis, bars, etc. We had a BLAST here!

We did a half-day guided walking tour of Guanajuato and started the tour at this elevated vantage point overlooking the town. I believe this is the best way to get a good lay of the land for what you will see when you go down to the street level in the main part of the village.

The monument is quite large and interesting. But the key here is being able to enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the town in the plaza adjoining the monument. From the top, you can either walk down several flights of stairs, or better yet, pay a little and take a glass-enclosed funicular down to the street level to begin walking the town.

This is a must do, simply stunning views of the city. We did spend about 10 minutes with a local artist as he explained many of the historical aspects of Guanajuato ... we thoroughly enjoyed it ... and you simply must take the funicular ...

Guanajuato is a beautiful city with so much to do and history. Our time there was not long enough. We did a city tour with one of our stops was Monumento al Pipila. I enjoyed the story behind the monument and the views from this area were AMAZING. There are so many must see's in Guanajuato and you can actually see the monument from the town square, but the view of the city from the top is worth short drive up that hill.

I would say this is a must see in Guanajuato because of the awesome views of the city. The area itself had nothing else that interested us, but we visited three different times during our stay at different times of the day, to appreciate the views. The walk up was interesting and the alleys are fun and colorful, but steep.
