Driving thru Guanajuato we saw a Monestery perched on a hill about 30 minutes from our hotel. Up around 2800 meters. Drove up. Pretty church, easy drive and the statue well worth the trip

We did not plan to visit, but due to a change in our itinerary we gave it a try and WOW were we amazed. The drive is not for the faint of heart as some of the curves are unguarded, but the view from the top is not to be missed. The statue of Christ is beautifully designed and the distance from the surrounding cities led to a perfect opportunity to reflect on the wonder of the creation. Set aside some time to visit Christo Rey, you will be glad you did.

This place is about 45 minutes drive from Guanajuato.. I visited the place early in the morning around 10am to avoid crowds.. The place was empty just us and 3 other tourist there.. You can take some amazing pictures of the Cristo Rey and the hills surrounding the area.. Also after you are done there you can go see the traveling mummy's which were part of the Guanajuato mummy's but these one travel all over the world.. Just dont go on a Tuesday cause it will be closed.

This is a very nice monument the Christ Rey. The history on this location was interesting to learn the years to actually complete was also interesting. The dedication of the people involved span so many years to overcome what I found to be almost unbelievable opposition. I traveled from Guanajuato and the trip was interesting to view the country. Then I discovered the view of Christ Rey from Silao. The silhouette can be seen on the horizon which is remarkable. The view to Silao from the mountain looking down is truly a beautiful view of Mexico.
