It was an experience to visit this albeit popular tourist attraction in Guanajuato. It is rated as a top attraction, even more than the colonial Centro area. I was curious to visit and the first time, there was a long line in front of the museum. My guide asked me come back early to get ahead of the queue. The museum is on a hill and away from the City Centro. You either need a taxi or a private transportation to visit the museum. There is an entrance fee with an extra fee to visit a special exhibit. Many vendor stalls are located around the outside of the museum. Most of the tourists were local or from Mexico. So, in the guided tour inside, you will not get an English narration. There are multiple mummies displayed in glass enclosures and photography with a flash is prohibited. Depending on you, reactions may be different. I was fascinated, but I also realized that the museum authorities showed great respect towards the displays. An enlightening experience to know what happens to the body after death. This was a unique museum experience for me.

I had seen the famous mummies of Guanajuato many years ago and was glad I went to see them again. They are now thoughtfully displayed in an informative museum, a much better location than before. No trip to the amazing city of Guanajuato is complete without a visit to the mummies. Highly recommended!

The museum of the mummies of Guanajuato is truly an incredible experience since it is a place full of emotions. Without a doubt, looking at what was done a long time ago with people who died is very interesting, as well as knowing how a mummy or the The process they went through since conserving a body these days is very impressive. The experience is magnificent since in most of these they are adults. However, you come across children and seeing the preserved state in which it is found is too surprising in the same way there are some that have history and it is made known what they were dedicated to or perhaps even their name is a very quiet place and the walk inside the museum is very enjoyable as well as the weather is very cool for me it has been one of the best experiences of my life

We went to this as most tourists would and ended up feeling sad for the bodies. This could have been a good thing to visit, had the curators made it educational. There is creepy music playing inside and very little information on the deceased. It was more of a spectacle than anything else, so I wouldn’t recommend it. Also, there is some unsealed gaps with some of the display cases which is unsanitary.

Where else are you going to get to see this? Go. I felt much safer knowing all the mummies are behind glass (I mean, I know they're not alive. Or do I?). I honestly kinda felt bad that they dont get to rest in peace and have been made to be a tourist attraction to gawk at (Made me consider creamation for the first time), but you know I still went and gave it 5 stars. Saw people with kids there although the VERY young mummies, I could see how that could be traumatizing honestly. Overall, fascinating to see some mummies with hair still and looking like they just left the Thriller wardrobe set.

Had to visit again after visiting years ago. The new facility is much nicer and doesn't smell like it used to. These bodies are mummified but not in the Egyptian way. This was not intentional but a byproduct of the soil and climate they were buried in. The skin still hangs on them paper thin. Such a unique sight to see.

This place isn't for a faint of heart, as you walk in there's a scent... I can't describe it but its not pleasant but its tolerable. The place is cool if you're into that stuff, gave me the heebie jeebies but its historical and I mean pretty interesting to say the least. This is one of those must see places in Mexico!

This was included in one of those group tours . They tell you museum entries are included which is not true and then you get 15 minutes to run through. I wouldn't have seen this otherwise. You can see these people died in agony. I couldn't even look at the babies. Skip the tour and hit the real museums on your own.

Interesting experience, great exposition.Ive bought the comby ticket to visit the mommies museum and the Mort and torture museum straight opposite of exit.
The second one absolutely not worth the visit.
There is nothing to see,a view more mommies, one picture,a view more not important objects, that it's.The visit during 2 minits for the extra 20 or 30(not sure) mxn.

The tour was very interesting the mummies museums, I didn't think it was so simple. You also start to think how it is that those bodies are still there without disintegrating. It is a nice experience to go to know more than anything about its history and what those people went through. The truth is that there are places in Guanajuato that are much more interesting to go and get to know this well.
