San Diego church is at the very heart of the city, where the famous "callejoneadas" start and the singers and dancers (originally students as per the tradition brouhgt here in colonial days) reel off their stories of the town. The church itself, another good example of Churrigueresque style, is worth a look both inside and outside.

Right next to the Juárez Theater is this small but beautiful church, another example of the Mexican Baroque. Impossible to miss because it is in front of the Jardín de la Unión is must while you are visiting Guanajuato.

This was another church that we had the pleasure of seeing a while back. Very nice, lovely statues. A nice park across the road.

Beautifully maintained church. Inside is in daily use but there doesn't seem to be restrictions on picture taking. I would assume reverence is all that is asked of one.

This church is located next to Teatro Juarez and the name is Templo De San Diego De Alcala. This is not a big temple, and it doesn't have that much decorations on walls and ceiling except from the front of the temple. The walls is mostly plain white or grey, doesn't contain that much paintings or idols and the altar... More

About all I can say is what a great experience it was to see this old marvelous church. The architecture is astounding, equal to anything you would see in Spain and without an expensive trip to Europe. The church is located in the center of town so everything is easily located. Plenty of cool places to eat and drink. Lots... More

Stroll into San Diego if you're having lunch at the Jardin. It's a lovely church with an interesting history. Beside the Theater. On the weekend there are vendors selling artwork out front.
