We would walk most evening from our B & B a half hour walk to the Park. .
It was very relaxing after a day walking in the city. The local people would come here to enjoy the coolness of the evening sitting on benches or strolling around. Great place for kids!
We also saw groups of people excercising each evening. Wedding parties came here to take photographs with all the lush trees and flowering bushes. A very pretty place!
We would end up at La Presa to have a beer and snack or sometimes dinner at El Embarcadero Restaurant with a view of the Lake. On weekends it was very busy with large family groups for dinner and then would have a problem getting a table in the shade.
Other evenings it would be very quiet and very relaxing with a beer watching a few people paddling row boats. Also saw a few swimmers in training but the water did not look too clean!
My husband took photographs of a few beautiful birds around the Lake and in the Park.
We would recommend La Presa and the park, also the restaurant had very good food.

We walked from the city center to Presa de la Olla, a historic dam inside city limits. This took us through a beautiful section of the city with old architecture and mountain views. We appreciated the beauty and shade in Parque Florencio Antillón, built in 1875 at the foot of the Olla Dam, named after the governor who built the dam. The dam was completed in 1749 to control both droughts and floods. In these steep hills, rainstorms can very quickly become deluges as water rushes downhill, even a small storm into a small creek can cause serious destruction. The dam catches the water and protects the neighborhood below. In times of drought, there is a reservoir filled with extra water.

I enjoyed strolling through the ornate parks to la pressa. Lots of interesting stuff to see round here. You can grab a bite to eat, have a coffee or a beer, mess about on the row boats and chill out for a few hours. Great day out if you fancy a walk and not spending too much!

The Presa de la Olla is a small dam at the top of the valley that contains Guanajuato. For $40 pesos per person you can rent a small rowboat and enjoy the serenity. We enjoyed rowing out to the edge of the dam and letting the wind blow us back the other way. It is quite a workout rowing, but we enjoyed the exercise. You can see the surrounding hills from the boat. It was beautiful and one of our favorite activities in Guanajuato. It is as clean as any enclosed body of water would be. There are ducks that live on the water here. You can buy a handful of corn to feed them. There are many families that come here to enjoy some time together. The surrounding area is also nice with a large park. Highly recommended to experience a slice of Guanajuato life.

A 20 min taxi ride(on a Monday) led to a fairly worked over park with bits of trash everywhere . If the wind kicks up on your boat ride good luck getting back. Skip it.

Another beautiful place unfortunately blemished by filth, graffiti, garbage, or bad smells. There are also ducks floating around being fed by locals, others rowing some of the small boats on the reservoir, and others eating at the many small eateries along the way. The water is very murky and smelly. There are 3 parks nearby. Good places for picnics or playing with kids. It is here you get to truly feel that Guanajuato is really in a small valley. The reservoir is at the end of the valley, at its narrowest. The walk here guides you along some large homes, interesting to see. Some late evenings have dancing events here as well.
