I've been getting professional massages for 20 years. I've gotten them in the US, the UK, in China, and in Ghana. But the deep tissue massage I just had at Paxio was the best I've ever had. I hold lots of tension in my muscles, all over my body, but I'm also extremely ticklish. Usually, I have to ask people to be careful of my ticklish places, or I have to request for the pressure to be heavier or lighter overall. But here, I didn't have to ask for any of that. I am astounded, and I'm sorry that I don't live here locally, otherwise I'd be back all the time.
Ask for Ely. The deep tissue massage is currently 550 pesos for 60 minutes.

My wife and I were in Guadalajara for a few days and saw a brochure of this spa at our hotel so she booked a microdermabrasion treatment (she gets them regularly). The spa was very clean with a relaxing atmosphere. The treatment was very thorough, a great value and comparable to other ones she's had. Afterwards, she said her skin felt so glowy.
The only thing she found a little odd was instead of disrobing and lying in a treatment bed, she was in a reclining lawn chair (fully clothed) in a larger room with multiple lawn chairs, probably for parties booking facial treatments. She was the only one in the room at the time though. After the treatment, they served her a very nice fruit tea. If we're ever back in Guadalajara, she would definitely book another treatment. The owner's dog Timo, who hangs around the spa, is also spectacularly cute.

Dear TravelFoodGuy:
Thank you so much for your review (and your comment about Timo, my dog!). We are delighted your wife felt the difference on her skin.
About the chairs on the facial area, they are not lawn chairs. As weird as it may be to you, believe me those chairs are exclusive for facial treatments. You can look for them at google as "Sillón Para Peeling Faciales Reclinable".
If you ever come back, we will be very glad to welcome you and your wife!! Thanks again!!

During a short stay in Guadalajara my husband and I stayed at Villa Ganz, right around the corner from Paxio spa. As my husband had meetings on a Saturday, he asked the hotel staff where I could get a massage. I was delighted to hear that Paxio spa could fit me in for an hour massage at their spa or they could send someone to our hotel room. I opted to walk around the corner for my massage.
The spa is located in a residential area off the busy street where we stayed, you could almost walk right past it if you aren't looking for it. They have a locked door at the front which I thought was great, obviously for safety reasons. The staff is friendly and welcoming, I choose a relaxing massage rather than deep tissue. The room was clean and smelled of wonderful aroma-therapy scents. The masseuse was very professional, I liked that she allowed me to fully relax and sleep where other places people can get too chatty.
Next time we visit Guadalajara, I'll be sure to book a couples massage with my husband. They also offer facials and other spa services. Prices are very reasonable. Thanks, Paxio Spa for a delightful massage!

I visited Guadalajara during the summer, and I had the best service at Spaxio.
The owner is very caring and I helpful, I booked 3 treatments and was delighted by how I felt.
I returned home restored and renewed.
Highly recommended!

Dear gypsyfarmer:
Than you so much for your kind and lovely opinion about Spaxio. I hope you will think of us when you come back to Guadalajara. We will be happy to welcome you, really.
I wanted to know who you are, but I can't see a picture of you on your profile. Anyway, thank you! This kind of comments help my business a lot. I have received people from other parts of the world who come to Spaxio because they read about it @ TripAdvisor.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,

I live in Guadalajara, have been in the Yucatan on holiday for a couple of weeks, and returned to GDL to find my usual place was closed for the holidays when I really needed a good massage. I will return to Spaxio as the masseuse did a good job.

The massage was the best I have had in a long time. The spa itself and rooms are very basic. They also do facials and wraps.

I took a body massage and facial.
Both of them are one of the best I have ever taken.
The Spa is simple, without all the flashy decoration of others, but with a good taste decoration, clean and located in a two floors house. They apply some feng shui decoration and some really nice oil smell in all the rooms. The music goes also very well to set you in the relax and enjoyable mood. The products they use are high quality and I have never seen my face skin looking so good. I highly recommend it if you are around in town! Also at the end of the treatment they give you a deli tea! with pieces of fruit and exotic flavours!

I had a really bad experience with a massage at this facility. I want to be fair, so the pros are as follows: clean facility and very accommodating when I arrived 10 minutes late for my appointment. And now for the bad...
I’ve lived in six countries and have traveled to at least a dozen more. I regularly get a massage, usually every couple of months. This was the worst experience I have ever had. Despite chatting with the spa via WhatsApp, when I arrived the spa was unaware of my massage preferences and hadn’t made an appointment with the therapist I had selected. The spa was accommodating and offered to reschedule the appointment, but I decided to proceed with the treatment anyways.
I always request a “deep tissue” or “sports” massage. I prefer a lot of pressure. However, from the beginning, the therapist—I believe her name was Elizabeth—started hard with her elbow before warming up the muscle. Although I was in pain, I figured the muscle knots needed to be addressed. Halfway through the massage I asked whether the pressure wouldn’t cause inflammation due to the pain I was feeling. At that point, I should have stopped the therapist and departed. I didn’t and when she had finished and I got up from the bed, I immediately felt pain throughout my neck, shoulders, and back. I knew something was wrong. The administrator behind the desk asked how the massage went and I explained that I was in pain. She asked the therapist to put a little oil on my back, but I didn’t feel any difference. I asked if I should take an anti-inflammatory drug like naproxen sodium or ibuprofen, but the administrator said only paracetamol (Tylenol).
As the day went one, the pain continued. After eight hours, I had large red inflamed marks on my back. (See photo) I contacted the spa via WhatsApp and took ibuprofen as they recommended. This helped, but I’ve never had so much pain and inflammation from a massage in any country or from any style of massage. Although, I am not a medical professional, I don’t think this was normal, but I included a photo taken eight hours after the message so folks can draw their own conclusions. The spa did say they would refund 80% of the cost of the massage after I contacted them.
I do not recommend this spa and warn others to stop a massage if it doesn’t feel right. Better to be careful than to be in pain later.

Dear Glob_Travlr:
I'm very sorry to read about your bad experience at our facilities. I'm the owner (the one you described as the administrator on your review). First of all: sorry for answering until today (I did'nt received any notice about your review and I just read it).
Second: I'm deeply sorry for your bad experience. Elizabeth is one of my oldest therapists at Paxio (she has been with us 8 years now). I don't know what could have happened that day. The only thing that comes to my mind is that she was not in her best moment.
Believe me when I tell you that we are conscious that we need to do our best with every client that comes at Paxio. And we are more conscious now, dealing with the fear that left pandemia. We pay attention and do our best in every massage as we know that the reason we are still alive is our clients. 15 years now, thanks to all of our clients.
I don't know whether you will want to give us a chance: but in case you do, please remember me it's you next time you are in Guadalajara. I will be your massage therapist.
Regards,
Claudia Islas

We last minute decided to book a day tour and went with Paxio's right from the hotel Morelos. We were definetly pleased with our choice. Did lots of fun things along the way, had a super New and comfy bus with music and drinks! Antonio was our awesome driver and guide and he took care of all our questions and needs. Lake Chapala is a beautiful spot and worth the adventure. Great scenery , food and tequila along the way! Made new friends and would definetly give this tour a high five 👋!
