Chapala has a pop. of maybe 25,000 and Cristiania Park is a surprise for it. It is a park with lots of potential but perhaps the town's budget doesn't allow that great of upkeep. A major civics project was just completed upgrading the drive along the front and parking. A lot of Tapatios (people from Guadalajara) come to the park on weekends to have picnics. There is also a water slide I think for kids and grown ups who want to be kids again.

This is an outstanding park. There are many activities there for the sports minded person. There are tennis courts, valley ball courts, swimming, sidewalks for jogging, running or walking. Plus a view of the lake and mountains.
Sit close the shore and space out or meditate. There are lots of trees to picnic under. What a great place to unwind.

Caught a cab over from Ajijic to the park. All of the courts were in pretty good shape. 5p per person to get into the park, and 40p/hr for a court. Looked like there was also a large pool/water area and soccer area, but we didn't explore too much since we wanted to get back to our place for lunch.
