Nice boat trip and beaching around
Apr 2021
Ok, so it might be a little bit crowded when you get there with lots of restaurants and music, true. But it's still a nice getaway especially the little boat ride you have to take to get there (80 pesos both ways) and once you're there you can enjoy the calm almost waveless waters of Las Gatas.

Pretty but narrow
Jan 2021 • Solo
This beach is certainly worth a visit if your staying in Zihua and is accessible by water taxi from town or by path from Playa La Ropa. This path is a bit rocky for part of the way so if you think you’ll have trouble negotiating that part, best take the taxi.

It’s also quite narrow, especially when the tide is in, so you may find it quite a bit more crowded than La Ropa as the sun chairs belonging to the bars and restaurants come within a few yards of the water’s edge. There are plenty of these places to lounge, eat and drink and it’s a very scenic place to while away a day.

Too crowded in the middle of Covid, although good service.

They do not space or limit the amount of people in the beach and restaurants. Very irresponsible on that side. However, the service and food was very good.

Every day is a beach day
Jan 2021
Take a water taxi to spend the day at Las Gatas. Go to almost the very end of the beach, 2nd restaurant from the end. Ottilios is the best. Say hello to our very good friend Franko and relax all day in the beach chairs. Ask Franko to make you a crazy pineapple and have a great day. Food is great and Franko is full of Zihua information. no better way to spend your day.

best beach in Zihuatanejo
Jul 2020
We decided to walk from the town to the beach. It was an incredibly difficult journey but of great reward once we reach the Playa los Garas. It was unlike any beach I had every been on. Arriving later in the day, most people nearby were already looking to leave and packing up. The water taxis were filled, the pier packed. Our time at the beach was relaxed and remarkable, with total freedom to do as we wished. The water was crystal clear, the sand mixed with stones and shells making it a bit challenging but worthwhile. I cannot recommend enough to visit this beach later in the day around dinner time, just make sure you will have a water taxi back. I don't recommend to walk the whole way from center unless you are young and fit.

A little serenity just off of La Ropa beach
Nov 2020
Las Gatas Beach is a little bay just off of Playa La Ropa. You can get there by ferry from downtown Zihuatanejo(50 pesos round trip), take a taxi from La Ropa or use the foot path(Not for the elderly or those with mobility issues as there's quite a few rocks to traverse and don't wear your flip flops).

Whereas the surf can get kind of rough on La Ropa, there were barely ripples in the water at Las Gatas. Great for snorkeling(Snorkle equipment can be rented right on the beach for about $5) or just wading in the water. Tons of little beach bars up and down the beach if you need to get out of the sun at all or just want a Margarita as big as your head.(Make sure to have cash. Not sure if any of them take cards)

Beautiful beach
Nov 2019 • Friends
Can walk here on a rocky path from la Ropa beach.bit of climbing up and down the rocks, not for the elderly or people with mobility issues. Flip flops not recommended for this walk. Water shoes needed to into water as water has hidden rocks. We went on a Friday the 1st time and it was extremely busy. Found out there is no school often on Fridays so stay away, Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Quite empty the other days. We walked to the 2nd last restaurant that had a Seahawk flag out. We went here 3 times. Had beach front lounges with a table and chairs behind us to eat our meals at. Awesome food and good prices. Water a little cooler than Ka Ropa beach, awesome on hot days.

Best Beach for Snorkeling
Mar 2020
The beach is accessible via a water taxi. The water is crystal clear and excellent for snorkeling. You can even see El Rey de Reys (King of Kings) statue off the reef. The perfect spot to spend the day under an umbrella with great food.
