Rosie was really easy to be with and she showed us a side of Mexico that might have taken months for us to discover on our own. The tour through the genuine Mexican market is informative and eye opening (in a good way). Rosie points out how things work and where the food comes from. She purchased everything we needed for the meals for the day and some additional fruits to try for the first time. We also bought freshly squeezed greens juice, which was incredible. Bring extra money in case you see something you want that's not on the menu.

Rosie's home is high in the hills (but not too far) in a neighborhood that I, again, probably would not have the chance to pass through without her. Upon entering her home I saw that she is surrounded by nature and beauty INSIDE her house. Trees grow from the floor and up through the roof (on purpose!). The home is festive, authentic, clean and organized. The stations were set up for us before we arrived so we set to work right after we toured the garden roof top and had fresh star fruit juice.

Without giving it all away - we prepared just enough to learn, but not to feel like we weren't on holiday still. Every single thing was DELICIOUS! It was worth every dollar to get to hang out with Rosie and her family, learn some authentic Mexican cooking and to relax and eat the dishes we made.

I highly recommend the small private tour, if possible for your budget, because the personal attention was priceless! It doesn't say it anywhere, but leaving an extra tip felt really right for us.

Rosie is an excellent chef, and even better a great teacher. She walked us through her grandma's receipe's step by step. My husband and I both agree that this was the highlight of our trip to Puerto Vallarta. Being able to cook in her home really gave us the local flair of the country that we were visiting. Every time we come back to visit Puerto Vallarta we will take a different class with Rosie. She is very fluent in English so the conversation was easy. She and her husband made it fun and really informative. She started the day in the market and showed us all of the ingredients that we were unfamiliar with and told us how they are prepared and what dishes we could use them in. We now know when we are staying in a place with a kitchen to do our shopping in these markets instead of the higher prices grocery stores. She also shared her lovely garden that she grows many of her ingredients for her dishes. I recommend this to anyone that has an interest in cooking.

We just got back from our 2 weeks in Puerto Vallarta, a place we have been many times before. This time, however, we finally did something we've been saying we'll do for a long time - we signed our family of 7 (ages 25-85 years) up for a private cooking class with Rosie! We have unanimously agreed that this was one of the best and most memorable things we have done in Mexico. Rosie and Archie picked us all up and whisked us away from the resort area of PV and up into the residential area a couple of km away to their home, which they have lovingly transformed into Rosie's kitchen and dining area. We were educated, fed, entertained and treated like we were guests in their home. In the 4 -5 hours we were there we prepared, and helped to prepare, traditional Mexican guacamole, chilli rellenos, tamales, tortillas (from the grinding of corn stage!) and traditional Easter bread pudding. Archie, our driver we met from previous trips to PV, treated us to margaritas and tequila shots. We met their children, had a tour of Rosie's rooftop garden, had an amazing Mexican meal and were entertained by Rosie dancing for us. When we returned back to our hotel later that night, we had all felt like we had just come back from visiting good friends in PV. We will be back! Thank you for such a memorable night and for sharing your traditional recipes, Rosie!

Learning to prepare traditional local cuisine in an authentic home is the best way to experience the true culture of a place! Rosie picks her clients up at the Galleria Mall and, while discussing what the day's clients wish to prepare, transports them to a neighborhood market where the locals shop for their produce, proteins and other necessities. This is where she, then, purchases the ingredients needed to make some truly delicious dishes! Then she whisks them off to her home to spend several fun-filled hours learning about the history of the foods and cuisine of the region and preparing the food. Each year we've met interesting people, prepared and eaten marvelous food and come home with new delights to prepare at home! This is a definite must-do for anyone visiting Puerto Vallarta!

We loved Rosie's cooking class! We did it on our first day in Puerto Vallarta, and it was the perfect way to start out trip. She gave us a tour of several neighborhoods and told us their history on our way to the farmers market. When we got there, she introduced some unique fruits and veggies (a few citrus varieties we had never seen before) and taught us how to find ripe ones.

We then drove back to her beautiful home, where she has an indoor/outdoor setup that was relatively cool even on a hot PV day. She has tons of amazing fruit trees, herbs, and local remedies she showed us and gave us history on.

We made a few kinds of roasted and fresh salsas, beer battered shrimp tacos, grilled fish with rice, and more. Everything was delicious, and even though we both cook a lot back home, we learned some great tips and tricks that we are excited to try.

Overall we had an amazing time and highly recommend the experience for anyone who wants an authentic experience (and who loves good food!).

A day with Rosie shopping cooking eating and drinking. Honestly a great day. Usually in a cooking school like this you have five or six couples, Rosie just reopened only took us for the day. It was like being a guest in her home and sharing a meal with her family. Pork Adobo hot and spicy, Fish tacos to die for, Spanish rice cooked in butter, milk and chicken broth. For dessert roasted banana with condensed milk. I can tell you I am thanksgiving stuffed. I am sure when she starts taking multiple couples you all will enjoy her hospitality. Great food very nice people truly a great day and we will surely be back.

Rosie picked us up on time and took us to a local market to buy our ingredients. The market was busy and had everything you could desire all fresh from the farm.
We prepared guacamole, three kinds of salsa, chile relleno stuffed with cheese and Chile nogada, pressed and cooked our own tortillas, followed by a delicious bread pudding.
Rosie did an amazing job demonstrating all the steps and sends the recipes by e-mail. The bonus was we got to keep the bright aprons we all wore.
We plan to return next month to try a different recipe, she offers different dishes each day.

Rosie's Vallarta Cooking was an amazing experience. We were there today and the first stop was the market to buy our fresh ingredients. This was a great experience by itself! Now I know a new place to buy vegetables and fruits!
We then went to her house which was really set up perfect for class. We had carne asada tacos, made our own tortillas, made green and red salsa, had shrimp tostadas, and had a great meal of red snapper. We also had an amazing desert! Rosie showed us every step of the way in making our food and with her husband Archie, this experience was truly amazing. I've had many cooking classes in my life but this one really stands out as superior and first class. I 100% recommend it to anyone in Puerto Vallarta who wants to enjoy a great cooking class!! I will be going again!!

Loved our cooking class with Rosie! We enjoyed shopping at the market and learning how to choose the best ingredients for our recipes. It was wonderful to have the class in Rosie’s home. We got to meet some of her family and hear her stories of growing up and learning to cook from her grandmother. We learned a lot and the time went by quickly. Lots of delicious food was prepared and eaten- Highly Recommend!!

Last night I took a group of golf buddies to Rosie’s for a dinner of Guacamole, salsa, shrimp tacos, red snapper and flan for dessert, and it was one of the highlights of the week!
It’s my third time taking a cooking class with Rosie and every time has been excellent. The shrimp and snapper were absolutely outstanding! And as this was an adult trip Rosie’s husband, Archie, kept the blender going with margaritas!

If you want to take a break from hanging out at your resort and do something authentic and fun, I highly recommend checking out Rosie’s cooking class!

Thanks again Rosie….see you next year!
