I would avoid Punta De Mita in the future.
I would avoid Punta De Mita in the future. The beach is very nice for a day trip but the town is terrible. It has one street along the beach full of over expensive restaurants and that's it. Rests of the town is horrible, dodgy and lacking in spirit, palces to eat, get your fresh groceries ect. The few you can get are overpriced compared to Lo De Marcos or San Francisco. There is one spot where the super market is close to high way where it is a decent to get your daily basics. Unless you are staying in the miloners resorts right at the beach it is to be avoided.

    Perfect except for stomach issues.
We absolutely love punta mita. We stay inside the gates in a condo typically. We love the beach clubs, going everywhere in a golf cart, restaurants, golf and tennis. But after going three times and getting diareah all three times I think it may be our last time going. I hate that such a magical place has to be so awful for our health. We even took probiotics the whole time we were there. So this is just a warning for anyone planning to visit.

    Magnificent respite from the winter
We visited this exquisite resort for a few days to attend a seminar at the invitation of friends. It was a most wonderful place to be. The rooms are large and very accommodating, the grounds are pleasant, relaxing and beautiful. The ocean is a delight to listen to and walk besides. We were far too busy to enjoy the amenities but they look worth while to enjoy and I so hope we can return and spend some down time at this beautiful place. The food in all the restaurants was wonderful. The staff very friendly and most accommodating. Before we arrived we had watched some you tube reviews of this resort and I must say they describe this place perfectly! We hope to return to enjoy and rest again.

Great location in Punta de Mita
This property was literally right on the beach. The view from the ground floor patio was the best for sunrises and whale watching and there were plenty of them. The surf school set up their tent right out front and was neat to watch all the novice and skilled surfers. Not only was it close to the beach but was also well situated to walking to town and the Saturday markets. Norma’s tacos and Theresa’s tacos were close by and were delicious. The lobster in paradise and Minas restaurants were both very good. Casa de Pintar was just down the street and had great food. Taking the bus to La Cruz was easy and only 20 pesos. Our condo was very spacious with 2 large bedrooms and each had there own washroom and shower. Having laundry was a bonus . Walking to buy groceries was easy once you became familiar with the surroundings. Looking forward to going back

NORMALLY sellers in most stores are honest,I purchased a brand of cookies I love, just 6 rolls called ,Gama classic vanilla, the cost was .30 Pasco, I. Stil learning Pasco, so I asked in dollars, guys say $4.00, 30 pacos turns out to be $1.55- the guy at counter isn't honest at all.

Going foward I will Calculate prior to pay to check before buying, this is what I get for not wanting to stand In line at oxxo station, they convert correctly all the time.

So he gained a couple bucks to convert shame on him, we are resident here 8 weeks out of the year, not sure how much longer to remain,

this use to be a charming little town,it's turning into Hustle all the way around.
My recommendation is do your converting right at counter,we are approaching high season.

God for bid we repeate 2007 & 2008, we're Americans will not spend money Mexico Rivera.

Dishonest!!!$$$$$,$

We took a taxi up here, thinking we might spend a few hours but only spent about an hour. Not much here except some rather expensive beach shops selling pool toys, etc. The beach was fine, but the water looked rough. We traveled on.

Most of the area of Punta De Mita is private resort (The Four Seasons) and must be invited by a guest, but if you can get in there... its REALLY nice. The little town and beach is great as well - makes for a great day trip out there. We had a tough time getting an Uber back though.. (actually visited LAST year, just forgot to review it).

An easy drive (bus can be taken as well) from Puerto Vallarta to the tip of the Bay, Punta Mita is a quiet place to relax at the beach. There are many beach restaurant/bars to hang out. The water is great for surfing and sea kayaking. In addition, there is snorkling nearby in the off-shore islands. A good alternative to the touristy Yelapa, since there are less people and it is less commercial.

Hola
Just got back from a trip to Nuevo Vallarta. While there, I had choosen to go fishing with a well known Fishing Captain that keeps his boat in the Punta De Mita Marina. I stayed near Paradise Village - great place with lots of everything you need. Taxi fare (small car) from Paradise Village to Punta De Mita is $310 pesos (very reasonible).
Taking a taxi back from Punta De Mita ( only big VANS/SUVS) available wil COST you $700 pesos. When I asked the drivers for a small taxi, I was told they had none, and wouldn't drop the price.

Don't call a taxi from your original destination to pick you up, because the locals will block your
exit, and you will PAY for this knowledge like I did.
Seems every time I go to Mexico I learn a little more.

Don't get me wrong, I still love going down there.

You just need to know the rules.

The first time we came to the area about 8 years ago, we loved Punta De Mita and loved visiting 2 or 3 times a visit. Over the years it has upscaled, become increasingly expensive and lost it's authentic Mexican feel. There are many restaurants along the beach, some good and many shops all too expensive. Just too sad to see how it lost it's charm. Still go there to catch a boat. Ask for Capt Chuy, he'll take you fishing, whale watching or just a ride. He is knowledgeable and a fun guide. Much better than taking a group tour. Other than that we stay away from Punta De Mita. Hoping Bucerias doesn't follow their trend or we'll be looking for a whole new area.

Reme is a delightful lady who gives massages just down the big hill to the left going into the row of restaurants in Punta de Mita. She combines Swedish massage, reflexology and acupressure for the most awesome and relaxing massage I have had in years. Her technique's are incredible. She also does deep tissue and prenatal massage. She is the best in town with great prices. She also offers other services like facials, nails etc....My husband and I have had many massages from her as well as members of our families. She is TOP shelf!! And she gives you the FULL hour!!
