We absolutely loved our experience with Fiesta in the Mountains. From the time we
arrived, we were drawn into a welcoming atmosphere and a fun series of activities

It started with a Mexican style fair with some games and food and drink, all included in the price for the evening.

From there, we went to the small rodeo ring where there were demonstrations of charro horsemanship and games of various kinds, involving the audience who were divided into cheering teams. Really amazing skills and just plain fun.

As the sun was setting were guided to the large palapa building where a great feast was provided and a very impressive show of top notch mariachis, dancers, more horse skill and rope spinning skills from one of the charros (Mexico cowboy)

At the end of the evening with really good fireworks, we were driven right to our doors wherever we were staying in Puerto Vallarta.

We are so glad to have done this and meet all the young people who are keeping their culture alive by sharing it with visitors both Mexican and foreign. We would definitely recommend this to anyone

We booked a horseback riding adventure through Gray Line tours (affiliates with Costco Travel). It was a lovely experience. We met at the office and a van took us up into the mountain to the Canyon River facility, where Tony met us and took us by Razr to where our horses were waiting. Tony was friendly and kind and gave us all kinds of information about the area- he felt like an old friend. Our horse guide (I think his name was Joaquin) was also really great. We got to go around the mountain and see cows, macaws, and endless beautiful scenery. Our horses, Gringo and Cantinflas, were gentle and basically steered themselves- perfect for beginners like us. We were treated to a beautiful spot near the river for a rest and some beers and fruit, then made our way back to the base camp where there was a free tequila tasting, a restaurant and bar, a pool (for an extra charge) and again a ton of great scenery. A bus was available to take us back to the center of town. The whole experience was definitely worth it! A great way to spend the day away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

My wife and I did the ATV / Bridge / Waterfall tour. Pick up was smooth and organized. The intro into teaching people how to operate the ATV was also well done and the guides were knowledgeable and friendly. The trails were great and the waterfall and bridge was as advertised. The only negative about the tour is that once the tour is completed, it takes forever to get back to your resort. They coral you into their onsite restaurant, while they “wait” for the busses back, but its really an opportunity to get you to eat and drink at their onsite restaurant and sell you overpriced pictures of your activities. That was an hour and one half after the tour ended. Then the bus has an extensive drop off list, which in our case was another hour and a half. Therefore, our timeline was:
1.5 hours to get there and start the fun.
2 hours of trail riding and fun
1.5 hours of waiting for the bus home at the onsite restaurant
1.5 hours of riding the bus making stops to get home.
Total: 2 hours of fun vs. 4.5 hours of bus rides
This would be an easy fix with more busses or alternative transportation structure. I totally would have paid extra for a taxi home after the ATV ride if given the opportunity, but you are in the middle of nowhere.
I get that its Mexico, but we weren’t expecting a 2 hour ATV ride to kill an entire day.

Thank you so much for your comments, Look like you had a very good time in the park, we are happy that you enjoyed all our tours. On the second hand, I´m sorry to see about the bus, if you take our transportation, you have to wait for the rest of the group, to go back to the hotel, some people want to have lunch, some people want to see their pictures and tequila tasting is including for free for everybody If you don´t want to do anything about that, you can wait in the hammocks or walk around the park to enjoy the beautiful place. Thank you for visiting us!

I went ziplining at Canopy River during my stay in Puerto Vallarta, and the experience was incredible. I've been ziplining before, but the views and course at Canopy River were unmatched.

Our guides were Rafael and Tony, and they made sure we were well trained and safe. They spoke both Spanish and English so nothing got lost in translation. And they gave us a tour of the local flora and fauna as we hiked from one zipline to the next. The last zipline drops you off IN the river, which was welcomed given all the exercise, and then a burro took us back up to the camp.

Canopy River provided full transportation, and when the trip was finished, there was a restaurant with execellent food and drinks. All-in, the whole experience was about 4-5 hours, so I highly recommend as an activity during a stay in Puerto Vallarta.

My husband and I did the River Expedition tour and it was outstanding! Our guides were Omar and Carlos; they both were fantastic. They explained everything and answered all our questions. They were also very personable and outgoing. The zip lines were all extraordinarily beautiful. We never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. The zip line into the water was great and the water was refreshing after a few hikes through the forest. The company doesn’t advertise it, but there is a fair bit of hiking to get from one line to the next, which wasn’t problematic for us, but the group of women who joined us weren’t accounting for it. The rafting is nice and relaxing, nothing too extreme and the repelling is easy yet exciting. You also get to walk over some hanging bridges which is very cool. The mule ride was relaxing as well. The restaurant at the end of the tour was absolutely fantastic. Great service and kind. We opted to purchase the pictures from the excursion which was $60 USD for all pictures taken on a flash drive, not bad at all! The transportation to and from is great as well you get beautiful views and a look into Mexico! Definitely would recommend to anyone and everyone!!

First, the tour guides and all other employees at Canopy River and very friendly and anxious to help out. The facility is huge and very well maintained.

Getting to their facility is a long ride in an uncomfortable, open air, flatbed truck. Not fun. The actual Razor ride was fun although this time of year the conditions are extremely dry and the majority of time you can barely see the tail lights of the vehicle ahead of you. Plan on dirt and dust getting in every crevice of you body. They also have two places on the course where they have created manmade, overhead water spray that drench you when you pass through, solidifying all the dust and dirt on your clothing. Honestly, you really can’t see any of the beauty around you while driving due to all of the vehicles creating dust.

They stop for 30 minutes at an outdoor bar that Canopy River owns hoping you will order drinks, creating another opportunity for them to make money. At the end of the tour they coral you into their outdoor restaurant hoping you will order lunch and more drinks for another opportunity to make money. They make you wait there for nearly 1 1/2 before transportation back to town knowing your captive to spend money in the restaurant or on high price pictures they show you while in the restaurant

I have been on other ATV tours in PV with smaller companies that don’t place so much emphasis on the “money production machine” and have had a much better experience. In fact we wish we would have gone back to Estigo Tours.

Every Wednesday night, the folks at Canopy River have a Mexican Rodeo up in the mountains. They pick you up and take you up up up into the mountains. Once you arrive you are treated to tequila, beer and margaritas and snacks.
And a real live rodeo! They ride bulls, perform riding tricks and involve the audience in muleback riding and drinking. Its great and perfect for family fun.
After that a buffet dinner and live Mariachi performers. The food is great and the performers are better. Oh and I almost forgot the mechanical bull you can ride. If you visit Puerto Vallarta, make time to see this.

This is the newest tour company in PV that is owned by 35 Mexican local families. The experience of driving the UTV was not bad but it was short. There are other tour companies where you have a longer riding experience an hour of your tour time is being transported by open air transport to the Sierra Madre location. You then spend about 30 minutes going over all the details afterwards you get about 1.5 hours of riding time. Your tour ends with about one hour left in your time. 🤬 I’m pretty sure our guide was smoking something during our tour as he kept stuffing crap up his nose. WTF! We have experienced 3 different tour companies in PV for ATV or UTV rides and this was by far the worst.

Hi Wendy and Cindy, first of all, I want to say thank you for choosing Canopy River and for taking the time to write the review. I want to let you know that we try to start the adventure from the moment you take our transport to make a tour of Puerto Vallarta in an open-air bus, and yes there are about 40 minutes; The tour on ATV is around 2 hours including the time you spend at the beautiful waterfall (20 minutes), so we are sorry that your agent did not inform you about it. The three guides in your tour have been working for more than 13 years and we have never had any comment like this, so we are confused to see that even when we were looking at the all pictures that the photographers took about the tour, and we didn´t found anything about it. But we continue investigating..

We had a big group do the ziplining, rapelling, and tequila tasting and it was way better than I expected and totally worth doing. Our guides were Rafael and Silvia and they were so nice, helpful, very professional and had great sense of humor. We had a photographer (Diana) who captured all of us in action too and you can buy the photos at the end. I believe our tequila tasting was with Esmeralda who also made us laugh a few times (before the tequila I might add). Overall, it was a great experience and a very fun activity for large groups (we had 12) and any group size. I would highly recommend Canopy River and these activities

This experience was amazing! I am afraid of heights, but I'm glad I did it! You don't focus on that while you're up there because you're trying to take in the views and the zip line goes by fast. Katya and Loony were super friendly and made us feel safe the whole way through. Katya was super sweet and so funny; she seemed genuinely interested in our conversation while keeping us distracted but motivated to continue . Loony came to the rescue when two of my group got stuck; he was quick and looked like he'd done it a lot before, he didn't panic, which helped us stay calm and say no big deal. We talked throughout the whole way and made the trip more enjoyable. I can't wait to come back! They told us November - April was prime time so definitely want to come back for my birthday!!! Thank you Katya and Loony !
