A photo captures a single moment in time, and this specialized excursion is designed to capture the magical moment when you encounter wild dolphins and majestic humpback whales in the Bay of Banderas. The essence of the Whale Photo Safari is to find the wildlife and enjoy those precious moments when you can sit peacefully and watch the whales and dolphins play, breach, or just hang out.

Booked this 3 hour trip by fast rib boat with high expectations to see whales up close, or as close as you can without disturbing them. The boat was fully subscribed with around 28 fellow passengers and a knowledgable guide who imparted interesting information. About 15 minutes into the safari we (all 28 passengers) were scanning the horizon to spot... More

We went on the 8-11:00 adventure. We were warned upon leaving the marina that the whale watching was tough this year because of the low whale population due to El Nino. According to our tour guide, there are usually roughly 250-300 whales in Banderas Bay this time of year, and this year there were approximately 50. After about an hour... More

We experienced that trip on February 17, 2016 and were anticipating some exciting whale sightings. Granted, we accepted the fact that whale sightings couldn't be promised, but there were other factors that took away from the pleasure of the trip. First, 28 of us were loaded into a Zodiac inflatable boat with two 200 hp outboard engines. The speed of... More

We went on the Vallarta Whale Watching tour because my boyfriend REALLY wanted to see a whale in the wild. Sadly, because of El Niño, the whales are scarce. We only saw one in the 3 hours we were out. Despite that, I was very impressed with the Vallarta Adventures experience. Courteous, friendly, knowledgable staff. The boat was very clean... More

Very nice tour. Good crew. Small zodiac for 30 passengers. Saw whales at a very close distance. Tour in the afternoon included a snack and water. If you want pictures bring your camera. No pictures taken by crew.

We went out to watch wales. We were the only boat for a while until other boats joined our group because we were getting very lucky finding whales and dolphins. We came across about five whales and were about to travel with them for quite a while. We really got lucky when one of the whales breeched the water and... More

My husband and I did the buy 2 Vallarta Adventures, get the 3rd free deal. We couldn't stop raving about how great every experience was. Our guide warned us ahead of time that due to Global Warming and El Nino that whale numbers are way down this year. He explained that in the last 2.5 months that they'd only seen... More

This excursion is the reason we never plan on doing an excursion again. We took the big boat, and were promised that it would be 3.5 hours, not to mention the whale gaurentee. We never saw any whales, which is understandable. But not only did we not see any, we also spent 6 hours on that uncomfortable boat. There was... More

Marisel is very knowledgable about whales and the ocean, given the fact that she is a Oceanographer! Whale watching is a hit or miss, but the resort made the impression that whales were all over the place. When we boarded, Marisel said "this is the worst year in many, many for whale watching due to El Ninyo. " The biggest... More

Abraham was an excellent tour guide with so much information. I thought I knew a lot about whales but he taught us so much and we had so much fun at the same time. Beautiful day on the water saw humpback mother and calf and four orcas and dolphins. The boat was in constant contact with their spotters and raced... More
