El Centro, is the heart of Puerto Vallarta, situated in the old town. It is the perfect place to stroll, or people watch. There are arcades, a flea market, a Farmers Market on a Saturday afternoon, where you can even buy English style meat & potatoe pies! There is a constant flow of live music and entertainment right through the... More

Great city. Seems like very family oriented and it's always encouraging to see families doing their daily activities. Great ambiance for walking, lounging, eating, drinking and simply watching life go by!

Took the local bus (only 50¢ per person) downtown everyday while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta. Lots of shops to get almost anything you want/need. Friendly people and most of all, amazing food! Spent time at the flea market, Malecon, checking out the architecture, walking the cobblestone streets, and trying out the many eateries. Thoroughly enjoyed spending time in El Centro!... More

Coming to Vallarta means coming to El Centro to visit the famous crown of Our lady of Guadalupe and to walk the Malecon. There is always outdoor dancing on Saturday nights and many, many types of entertainment under the Arcos in this most famous town plaza . Vallarta really promotes itself from this venue and offers continuous free entertainment from... More

There is so much to see and do in this area. Stroll down the malecon great ocean view. Many restaurants, shops and bars. Various art work is located along the water. You can walk from the malecon into the romantic zone. Nice walk. Local artist along the way.

We stayed in old town and walked the streets at all times of the day. Never felt safer. The old buildings and visiting with all the locals was the best.

A visit to El Centro is always a treat. The Malecon is beautiful. Stroll along and watch the sand artists, admire the bronze statues, watch the flying pole performers, the street performers. Stop for drinks or dinner. Wander off the Malecon and stop in to some of the Art Galleries. You can walk from one end of the Malecon to... More

I am a snowbird who spends winters in Centro. Centro is the old original village of Puerto Vallarta. The whitewashed walls, the tile street signs, the Spanish Colonial architecture, the Church, the square and the cobblestone streets lend the authentic feel of Old Mexico. The area has the bay front Malecon The area is full of beautiful restaurants, art galleries,... More
