My wife and I spent 11 nights in a 3rd floor condo overlooking this active marina, identifying the 5 100’+ mega ships and watching the private yachts and tour boats going out and returning for their day or sunset cruises. Each day, we could choose between all the surrounding services available from 2 OXXO convenience stores, at least 10 nice restaurants, pharmacies, massages and numerous tour agencies.
Several mornings after an early swim in our complex pool, we walked the 1.5 km beach where pelicans and anhingas actively fed. One Saturday, we took the 10 peso public bus (“Centro” from near Plaza Neptuno), passing the Mall/Walmart, to walk Puerto Vallarta’s sculptured Malecon, see the Naval Museum and visit the excellent Old Town Market, then returned by US$7 Uber.
For our 3rd visit to this touristy port, this area has been an excellent choice.

We visited the Marina on Thursday night during their "Art and Market" which is seasonal on Thursday starting at 6pm. Check for updates as this may change. Been there for this market once before. It is just beautiful to stroll the Marina in the evening as booths are set up to sell their items. I bought a bag of the best peanut brittle I have ever had. The lights and sounds and smells are wonderful with the boats and water as backdrop. Grab a drink or snack or dessert or dinner....any way, it is a lot of fun and beautiful and very relaxing. Very enjoyable and worth your time. We took the bus from the Sheraton, buses to the Marina run only every approximately 20 minutes. Easy trip there and back.
Check it out! Remember it is only seasonally!

The next best thing to owning one of the dreamy yachts docked in the Marina is to keep them in your sight lines. You do that by staying at one of the hotels, condos or timeshares that sport fabulous views of the ships and mountains in the distance. You stroll along the promenade that circles the treasures and choose one of the many dining spots with good views and great food. When you’ve had enough margaritas, seafood and huevo rancheros peek into the art galleries and gift shops filled with artisan crafts.
Want a massage? A mani-pedi? There are several options. I always get my hair done by Iris at Salon Sola. My favorite treat at 3:30 is the expresso with local dairy cream at this tiny shop which also features delicious ice cream. By your third visit they greet you like an old friend and remember your order.Fab coconut ice cream tops off a shopping spree Thursday nights at the local market where you can buy desserts, fruits, nuts, Mexican dishes, purses, jewelry, lace blouses, toys and art work. They love to barter so practice your Spanish and chat away, you may leave with a precious souvenir.
Last, but not least, if you want to actually sail on one of the yachts contact Captain Bill who operates out of a tiny space near the coffee/ice cream place. He has many tours from Vallarta Adventures with good prices too. Oh, I almost forgot! You can catch a city bus and ride into town for 10 pesos! We went one step further, and for another 10 pesos rode to Mismiloya where we walked to the Mama Lucia Tequila factory. Tune in for more about Mama Lucia!!

The marina is a must. Lots to see and do. Shops, resturants and entertainment. Traveled in February also before covid and the entertainment and vendors on Wednesdays is great. This trip found a little bar that played country music.....great fun singing and dancing

Love the area around the marina. We spent about 2-3 hours walking around on a Thursday night. There were lots of tents with vendors selling their artsy wares and multicultural food stands as well.

It was certainly packed the first Thursday in January. My one child hated the crowds. I found the souvenirs very typical and mostly over priced. We were there 8-9:30. It was an 80 pesos taxi ride from the hilton. The food stalls were more interesting than the knickknacks. Quite a few places selling pies. I do not think I will be back. I didn't realize how large the "marina" area is, as near the Hilton we are near the marina for cruise ships but this area is a marina for smaller boats. Near the cruise ship marina are tiny souvenir shops for the cruise ship tourists with similar higher prices. I will buy my souvenirs from the beach vendors.

Possibly one of the best places to go for a day in the hotel resort area. In fact, this is really the ONLY place to hang out other than the resorts themselves. It was about 7 blocks from our hotel and we went there every day for 5 days. Fun restaurants and bars, live music, street performers. You can walk almost all the way around the circumference marina. There is also a mock up lighthouse with a restaurant at the top. There is also a smallish shopping mall. The signs warn about crocodiles, but our information is that restaurants used to through waste food into the water and crocs would swim up the entry canal to eat it. This food throwing practice has been banned and no crocs, but the signs are still there. We spent NYE 2021-2022 here. Fun place to walk around day or night.

This shop, Hecho a Mano, is owned and operated by Yadira Andres and her family. Many of the clothing and jewelry items are made by her family. She is most pleasant, eager to please and speaks English very well. My wife bought bracelets, earrings and clothes for Christmas gifts for our family. Her shop is located at Local 11-A, next to the restaurant Palomas Doradas and close to the lighthouse in the Marina

We always enjoy the Vallarta Marina. There are plenty of restaurants with a nice variety of cuisines. We especially enjoy Chappy’s, with its open view of the harbor, and Marisma for excellent inexpensive seafood. The Marina golf course is a special treat with 18 beautiful holes, many species of birds, crocodiles and iguanas. The Thursday evening market along the Marina is nice and brings some vendors you won’t find at the Saturday market in Zona Romantica. The waters of the harbor provide interesting fauna—fish, crabs, sea turtles, and an occasional croc. We love walking around the Marina, watching people, critters, and yachts. Definitely worth a stay or just a day visit.
