I have visited Isla Cuale many times, the famous Island in the middle of PV, and yet have never seen the John Huston statue, famous for his iconic "Night of the Iguana" movie with Richard Burton. No wonder I never visited his statue, because it's...More

Thus place is a little quirky and usually quiet. Some nice shops and a nice statue pbj John Huston . Coincidentally I almost always see an iguana when here.

Although this area could be spiffed up a little it still has a nice sculpture of John Huston, some murals, shops, vegetation and interesting people, cats and iguanas, and if you come in from the right part of town, a swinging bridge to get there...More

This is a really quiet plaza that gets very little foot traffic, despite being tucked in downtown Vallarta. I love going here to read a book or getting some food "para llevar" and hanging out with the kitties in this plaza while I eat. People...More

As a John Huston fan, I think he deserves to be immortalized in a statue here. His filming of "Night of Iguana" made PV popular. It grew from a sleepy village to a major tourist attraction after film was released. The statue sits by itself...More

We have been in PV 4 times before and we looked forward to visiting this quiet area... However, it has been neglected for the past 2 years and even the washroom in the cultural centre is now closed. We think the city of PV should...More

We stopped here as part of an excursion from a cruise ship. So you could say we were a captured audience. But anyways the statue was nice but this area seems to be going downhill. I saw a handful of empty shop which indicates that...More

We've traveled to Puerto Vallarta for the past ten years and always found time to stop in our walks to visit the John Huston Plaza. I'm sad to say the immediate area of the plaza and Huston's seated brass statue in particular has gradually fallen...More

It's almost an undiscovered gem on the Isla Rio Cuale. Just off the Rio's flea market area, near the school of performing arts and the archaeology museum (that, unfortunately, never seems to be open) - it's such a surprise. A leafy, cool, pretty surprise.
