- Canad_Ian034Puerto Vallarta, Mexico175 contributionsAmazing vistas of Vallarta and the BayThis lookout offers great panoramic views of Puerto Vallarta and the whole Bay of Banderas, including parts of the city east of the mountains. It's not as difficult a hike up the lookout as you might think. Most people who are comfortable walking uphill can do this. Bring your camera or smart phone for pics! Great times to go are for sunrise and sunset. At sunrise, in particular, you may find yourself with the whole lookout all to yourself. Interesting tip: The "Down Vallarta" international mountain bike race which takes place each spring starts from the mirador de la cruz.Visited January 2020Written September 18, 2020
- Jane SPenticton, Canada96 contributionsStunning Views for freeThis is an excellent way to see Puerto Vallarta by a high observation point. Best of all, it is free! If you are in any shape at all with a good pair of walking shoes, then climbing lots of stairs up and up, should be no problem. There are many platforms to rest along the way. At the top there are several more stages of stairs where you see the whole city from all around. Bring your camera, water and go early in the morning before the heat. I have heard it would be great to see at sunset but going down the stairs in the dark could be difficult.Visited February 2020Written February 23, 2020
- R&JLos Angeles, California44 contributionsWorth itWe found this on you-tube and as curious hikers we had to visit. We put the address on google maps and started walking. I’m almost hesitant to write a review to keep this place as a hidden secret 🤫 It was a 30 min walk from our hotel and there were several ways to get there. It took us about 45 with breaks, it gets very steep and we kept looking at the map to confirm we were headed in the right direction. Once you get to the bottom of the stairs it’s a steep climb. There are 2 sets of stairs one for going up and one for going down. I could see this being useful if it is busy. We went on a Tuesday before noon. If you’re afraid of heights I could see being a little anxious but keep going and don’t look down. At the top there was a little shop that sold snacks, different levels and a bunch of benches. This hike is great for families too, no strollers but there were several kids making the trek as well. After absorbing the breath taking views and catching our breath we headed back down and 10 min later we were at a boardwalk restaurant with cocktails and ceviche 😋 all worth it!!Visited February 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 5, 2023

We did this one morning to see the sunrise (unfortunately it was cloudy). Great views of the the ocean as well as the mountains. Bring along water and wear some good shoes. Lots of elevation climb, but worth it.
There was a yoga class going on that morning too which looked like fun.

This is a great thing to do in Puerto Vallarta. The views are amazing, you can see the entire bay! It’s a lot of steep climbing and stairs but worth the views. There’s a breeze at the top to cool you off after your work out climbing all the stairs. Make sure to bring water and take your time. Free to do, there’s also bathrooms up there for $7 pesos (give to the store on top of the hill)

The views from the viewing tower are absolutely amazing and allow you to grasp the vastness of Banderas Bay. A bit of a hike to get there but better signposted than it used to be and well worth the effort

There are several ways to hike to the top (I prefer taking the jungle path from Aldama rather than the steps or funicular, which never works, from Abasolo) but it's a great experience and a gorgeous view. Not recommended for anyone with fear of heights or any mobility impairments.

I love hiking up to the cross. The last part is a bit of a steep climb (stairs), but the view is totally worth it. It is not for everyone, but any reasonably fit person can do it even if they take a few breaks. There are some good views at stops on the way up.

This is well worth the hike to the top with spectacular 360* view of PV and refreshing breeze. Wear proper footwear and bring water. It’s a good workout!

Gorgeous view- strenuous hike up around 300 steps, that is after walking up a hill with a steep incline, totally worth it

It’s a hard hike up up up but worth it for the views and photo ops. Good for the heart and the soul.

Christmas Day. Worth the huff up the stairs, cool breeze at the top. Don’t wear flip flops, it’s steep on the downhill. Recommend.

The nearest point accessible by taxi is 220 steps from the top. There are no bathrooms nearby. Snacks and drinks are sold at the final 220 step access point. You can take your time making this final ascent so it is possible for anyone with sufficient energy to ascend this many stairs.
