The old Town Market Viejo Vallarta is in an old glass-roofed building and worth the visit, but as other TA Reviewers have mentioned, it is an aggressive place to wander into, and most of the products repeat themselves in each booth. Pay attention and wander about without getting dragged in, and you may find a treasure or two. We went... More

Old Town is a district in the city of Puerto Vallarta. Many shops, a market, many, many restaurants. Pretty easy to walk.

We hate being mobbed! The only thing that didn't happen is we weren't physically touched. But we were constantly surrounded by Vendors, some aggressively. We didn't really feel unsafe but certainly we felt uncomfortable and 'put upon' Our shopping experience here was very unpleasant and we left shortly after we arrived. We bought nothing...A waste of taxi fare!

You're walking along and suddenly you wonder where your kids are only to look around and see they've been aggressively pulled into a vendor's shop with a sombrero placed on their head and being told you now owe $40 for the "new hat." Or having another vendor put a 2lb "solid silver" necklace on your kid's head and arguing with... More

Good place to shop if you are staying in old town. Good selection of local fruit & veggies & lot of interesting crafts. We find it a good location & saves trips to Costco & Walmart.

Took a day trip to the Flea Market in Old Town. Well worth the trip to shop. We found many great buys. Remember to barter hard but leave a little room for them to make money. Best bargains are found here and when your done here you can stroll over to the Malacon.

Good for just a stroll but shopping is very interesting with crafts and a bit slower paced than the newer area(s). Definitely worth a look/walk.

There's dresses, purses, and other trinkets here. You can negotiate with the vendors, they aren't too pushy which is nice. There's some food throughout, but not as much as I expected. Each vendor basically had the same stuff, so I wonder how authentic Mexican it is.

We taxied in and spent a day. It is a very good mix of restaurants/bars and shops. Lots of different items. While a lot of tourist its not "touristy". Easy haggling on prices and a lot of different stuff. Not just trinkets and junk

Did a quick run through this market and didn't really see anything unique. Same t shirts, jewelry etc etc. Instead I recommend seeing the John Houston statue in the park across the street. May want to research the importance of John Houston first to appreciate this.
