We tried to book this excursion thru Holland America cruise with another couple who purchased the last 2 tickets. Salsa and Salsa did accommodate us with 2 more tickets so we could join our friends. I have to say, this was the most fun I've ever had on any excursion! It started with lively music, a great welcome margarita, wonderful chefs and servers. How fun it was when we all put on our chef hat and apron, made a couple margaritas and salsa, and guacamole and then were able to eat and drink everything we made! I only wish learning the Salsa was as easy as making the salsa! A good time was had by everyone and I would highly recommend that you book this excursion before it is sold out!!

I signed up for this through my ship and I'm so glad I did. My adult daughter and I were picked up at the pier and then taken to a beautiful resort. There are oodles of margaritas and jasmine tea as you walk in the door and are then seated at tables of 8 with 4 set-ups. Margaritas (alcoholic and non alcoholic) are unlimited. You make 2 margaritas (traditional and frozen) and you have an option to make them non alcoholic, just let them know. You then make a number of salsas (I lost count), and you can adjust the ingredients such as the amount of hot pepper to use in them (we like little, the couple next to us likes a lot, so we handed over our extra). The chef directors were very entertaining and brought up different members of the group to participate. Everyone wears a chef hat and apron. We had so much fun. This was one of our favorite activities. After making salsa, the area is cleared and you are taught salsa dancing. It sounded fun, but the pool was mere feet away and looked so inviting, my daughter and I headed over and enjoyed our time at the beautiful resort pool. The beach is on the other side of the pool. There is also shopping nearby. When you are done, they pack you into taxis and send you back to the ship, so everyone can head back whenever they want. I highly recommend this excursion.

I absolutely loved this! My boyfriend and I were staying locally in MZT for a couple of weeks, so I reached out to the Dancing Chefs to see if there was any availability for the two of us to get into the class - when you go to the website, they direct those staying locally to email them - and received a reply very quickly. We got everything confirmed within 24 hours and got there a little early on the day of the class at their request to make sure we didn't get lost in the throng of cruise passengers (and good thing we did! There were so many people that day!). The location for the class is absolutely beautiful, with lovely architecture for the main level of the resort, a large pool, and elevated views of the beach (and access to the beach as well). The class itself was fun, with the recipes for two margaritas and six salsas included/made right there, and the Dancing Chefs were very engaging all throughout. The salsa dancing portion of the class was a great way to end things, with it being simple enough to follow for beginners, but the music allowing for the more experienced individuals to flex a little. During the class you have access to the resort and some amenities, but afterwards they do ask that you purchase a day pass if you stay. I don't believe this is something that comes up often, since most attendees come from the cruises and leave by a set time, but for those who stay longer, the price of the pass is also very reasonable and you make it up pretty quick if you hang out and drink and/or eat a bit.
Thank you Hayley and Abi for the lovely experience!

We had a great time at this excursion. Made 6 different types of Salsa and 2 types of margaritas. Margaritas were unlimited and non-alcoholic drinks were also available. Our dancing chefs kept things entertaining with audience participation and salsa dancing. Afterwards, there was time to swim in the resort pool, take a walk on the beach, or do some shopping. Only downside is I wish it lasted even longer than the scheduled 5 hours so we could have more time at the resort. Would highly recommend!

We learned how to make 5 different salsa's and you could accomodate your own level of spicy to not spicy. We learned the basic steps of the salsa dances and it was laughable. The beach and pool were open for our use and were wonderful. They were clean and so comfortable. This is one great excursion that you should enjoy. PS: The Margarita's are fantastic!!!

This was the best excursion we’ve ever done!
We were on the Carnival Panorama last week and Alicia was our Tour guide. If you do this ask to be in her group!!!!! She is fun and full of light- she brought so much to our day! We had a little tour of the town on the way to the Hotel and Alicia pointed out a bunch of areas and Monuments… once at the Hotel we made a bunch of different salsas, guacamole and drank margaritas. We don’t eat meat and they made the taquitos without chicken for us so if you have any dietary restrictions just let them know. Our chip bowls and cups were never empty! Everyone was friendly and wonderful- it’s a high energy, fun time. The 3 woman who ran the program were fantastic, I’m sorry I can’t remember their names. After the food portion was over they lead
Everyone in a salsa dancing leason that was super fun!
We definitely will do this again whenever it is offered.

If you are looking to learn how to make delicious salsa or want to improve your salsa dancing skills, look no further than this amazing excursion SALSA AND SALSA.
The salsa making tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to prepare the perfect salsa ( a variety of salsas) mmm mmm. From selecting the freshest ingredients to mastering the right combination of spices, this tutorial covers everything you need to know to make the perfect salsa (also amazing guacamole)! The tips and tricks provided are invaluable and will surely impress your family and friends at your next gathering. They gave us printed out recipes so we can make them anytime.
In addition to the salsa making tutorial, the salsa dancing tutorial is equally impressive. The instructors are experienced and skilled, providing clear and concise instructions that are easy to follow.
The endless margaritas are tasty and delicious. They also made a strawberry margarita that was delicious as well. On a quick side note, if you don’t drink alcohol, they offer virgin margaritas.
The hotel where the event was held was clean and literally right on the beach. There’s also time to enjoy doing some things on your own. We walked on the beach barefoot. Great weather and felt amazing. There’s also a nice swimming pool right there if you want to go for a swim.
Overall, I highly recommend this excursion for anyone who wants to learn how to make delicious dalsa or improve their salsa dancing skills. The tutorials are well-organized, informative, and engaging, making the learning process enjoyable and rewarding. Give it a try, and you won't be disappointed! We will go again on our next cruise!

We loved the experience, the instructors and the bus ride to and from were amazing, but felt the location was just ok. Our bus driver and guide(Nery) were wonderful, they pointed out all sorts of cool things along the route and made the ride feel safe. The Salsa and Salsa instructors and dancers were so sweet and made the whole crowd feel welcome! My 10 and 8 year olds really got into the dancing and enjoyed having virgin versions of our adult drinks, which by the way they kept flowing 🙌🏻 as far as the resort, I realize that’s not always going to be perfect but for someone who is a bit of a germ freak I felt the bathrooms and pool area could use some maintenance and cleaning. Overall, I’d recommend and probably do again if we go back!

Hi Olivia!
Thank you for bringing your family for a day of Salsa & Salsa fun. We are so happy to hear that your little ones enjoyed the virgin margaritas and dancing. We took some amazing photos of the kids that are posted on our Facebook page, so be sure to check them out! Our apologies that the state of the hotel was not up to your standard. Mazatlan was on its last day of the largest celebration of the year called Carnival and the hotel was full. Never the less we will be sure to keep our eyes on this for the future. Thank you again for sharing a bit of your vacation with us and we are sending you a big Ole’ until next time!

We was picked up at the pier and taken to a beautiful resort. We learned how to make delicious There is fresh ingredients waiting for you to make your salsas and guacamole and even a dessert salsa. Then they bring out more ingredients for you to make two different margaritas. They are always refilling your glass with whatever you want to drink. ( My favorite was the Frozen Strawberry Margaritas ). They also give you all the recipes of everything you made that day. You can also purchase the bowl and pestle, apron, and cookbok. After you finish eating and drinking you get to learn how to dance. They also have a pool and the beach is nice too. I would definitely recommend this tour. They also give out non-alcoholic drinks for the kiddos.

If someone does not like margaritas, would he be able to get another alcoholic beverage instead that would still be included in fare? Possibly beer?

Hi There,
The Shore excursion will have transportation to our hotel Royal Villas.

What is the drinking age for this event? We have a 19 year old in our group. The cruise promotion indicates must be 21 to consumer alcohol but the drinking age in Mexico is 18.
Written May 7, 2017
Since the Salsa attraction is onshore, the Mexican drinking age applies. Be cautioned though that the Margaritas flow freely (which makes the salsa dancing more fun), so if the young person needs to be careful.
