We booked a day trip to snorkel at Deer Island since the surf is pretty fierce at our hotel. Had a great boat trip down the coast of Mazatlan and got to see two doliphins surfing in front of our boat, then saw a bunch...More

You take a catamaran tour through the bay area and then end up here. They serve you food and they have some activities like banana boat and kayak. There is some snorkeling, but not the greatest.

The trip started with a boat ride around bird island. We did stop to watch a small group of sea lions floating in the water near the island. Once we moored near Deer Island, we took a small outboard motorboat to the island itself. After...More

We took a sailboat across the water from the Golden Zone in Mazatlan to Isla de Venados (Deer Island). This island is definitely worth a visit to get away from the crowds and merchants and noise of the main beach. Our sailboat ride roundtrip was...More

Super glad we went to the island. If we had planned better (not waited till our last full day) and the weather was warmer, I would have liked to stay longer - perhaps exploring the island on a hike, having lunch, etc. As it was,...More

Yes, you can rent kayaks on the beach by the hour and paddle over to Deer Island. It’s a good way to go!
