Super fun tour--the three of us in our group all highly recommend it. Maaike knows the area well and is an excellent guide. Took us to locations we would have never found on our own. She made it informative and fun. It was a highlight of our trip! Thank you Maaike!

This market tour was great! I have been shopping in this market many times over the years but didn't know where it was safe to eat or any history of it. Maikke gave us lots of history and useful information. We tried a lot of good food and learned about spices, cheeses, and peppers. I highly recommend her tours. I did the Barrio Bites tour 2 years ago and that was great too!

Just 3 of us on this tour yesterday which made for an intimate tour of the market and some great food. Maaike has been living in Mazatlán for 16 years and has learned what’s worthy of our 3+ hours and did not disappoint regarding what to share and what to skip. If you’re considering booking a tour with her, book it! Hope to return and take another tour with her next year. Gracias, Maaike! -Rob Plucar of Oregon City, Oregon, USA 🇺🇸

My wife and I have been going to Mazatlan since 2005, and this is the first food tour we've taken, despite loving food tours (we've been on numerous ones in several cities on 3 continents). Maaika started her tour about 5 years ago, and this was the first we knew about it-- our resort concierge recommended it. It was a real eye opening experience, and the highlight of our trip. We visited sites where locals eat, drink, and shop for food. I can truthfully say, but with one exception (the craft brewery), I could walk by these places one hundred times and never stop in, let alone eat anything served there. And I would have missed out on a world of taste that I'd never experienced in all my years of going to Mazatlan. We learned about the history of Mazatlan, Sinaloan style cooking, and the people and culture of the city. When we return to Mazatlan, I'll book the evening tour, and perhaps do the morning tour again as well. Regardless, I'll go back to Maaika's favorite spots.

A visit to Mazatlan isn't complete without a tour with Maaike, or two or three. We've taken all the ones that are available and have been fine with repeats. After starting with one tour in 2018 (Barrio Bites), we opted for two in 2019 and 2020. This year we did a repeat of Barrio Bites and added the new Mexican Kitchen experience. It includes some well thought out touches such as shopping for the ingredients to be used in the cooking session and shopping list and recipe handouts. It's obvious that Maaike has excellent relationships with the vendors she works with and that they strive to please her customers. Oh, and did I mention that the tours are fun? Hey, that's my photo of my wife and a friend with Maaike at the top of this Tripadvisor page.
