A good time! I recomend checking out their mobile friendly site as it lists more options. sailingmazatlan.com
If you have allergies I recommend bringing your own food.
The facts about the islands were very cool.
The ship Mi Casa is well maintained. The ship does have some aesthetic damage but that is all it is. The ship runs beautifully and is definitely one of the better maintained ones in the harbour.

Eduardo picked us up at 1:30pm and drove us to the ElCid Marina where his 40 ft 1956 sailing boat is moored. The next 4 hours were GREAT! He is a treasure of knowledge about sailing, Mazatlan, it's history and the multitude of animals that inhabit the area. I could write a story for Reader's Digest about this man. Go on this tour and enjoy the water, the sailing and the sunset. We happened to see whales, dolphins, turtles, and a Sea wolf/lion. Best trip on Mazatlan thus far.

With the last review in Feb 2020, we decided to contact Capt. Eduardo to see if he was still providing sail trips in Mazatlan. Did most of the arranging by text using Google Translate although he speaks excellent English once we met him. All details as provided by previous reviews are accurate and we had an enjoyable day. As previously described Eduardo is a wonderful host & excellent sailor. He asked me to let people know that he is ready and available for your next sailing adventure.

Sailing aboard the Mi Casa was not only the high-point of our Mazatlan vacation, but also one of the most enjoyable travel experiences we have ever had. My wife and I booked a private tour with two of our friends that would have been a deal at twice the price.
On the Mi Casa, my wife and I found the serenity, beauty, kindness, and depth that we seek when we travel. The Mi Casa provided a lovely escape from the bustle of a tourist community. As soon as Capt. Eduardo cut the engine and our ketch was under sail, we were lulled by the sound of the wind in the sheets and by the hull cutting through the water.
Mazatlan is known for its miles of gorgeous beaches and for its importance as a natural harbor. However, we only started to appreciate what a gorgeous part of the world it was when we viewed it from the sea. First Mate Kym kept a watchful eye out for the fauna of the area, including pelicans, frigate birds, sea lions, dolphins, and whales. With her background as a teacher, and Capt. Eduardo's extensive natural and nautical knowledge, we felt we should have been paying tuition!
Capt. Eduardo and First Mate Kym were also wonderful all-around hosts and tremendous ambassadors for the City of Mazatlan. They provided us with snacks, bottled water, ice-cold Pacifico beer, and one of the most enjoyable lunches we've ever had. Eduardo and Kym also offered us transportation and introduced us to what became our favorite part of town.
Guests on the Mi Casa are able to do as much or as little as they please -- our friend pleased to do a lot! He helped run the sails up the mast, steer the ketch, and drop the sheets. He spent the rest of the afternoon talking about purchasing his own vessel!
We would recommend the Mi Casa, her Captain, and her crew for anyone looking for a relaxing, interesting, and fun getaway.

We had 11 people in our party ranging in age from 7-75. This unbelievable experience on the Mi Casa sail boat with Capitan Eduardo and 1st mate Kim made our trip spectacular. This is not some slimy booze cruise, just an unforgettable adventure for all on board. They are very safe, knowledgeable and terrific story tellers. They love to teach sailing and have tremendous patience with little ones on board. We will definintely be going back to sail with them the next trip to Mazatlan

Just took a private sunset sail with Eduardo Olivares on his private sail boat. The 4 of us had a wonderful time and paid little more than we would have paid to sail on a "party" boat that really doesn't sail at all. This is a post WW II 3 masted boat with plenty of room to spread out, sun bathe or what ever suits you. No bench seats here. Eduardo was a wonderful host with plenty of stories to tell and very gracious. His sidekick, Victor, was just as congenial. This trip was a hidden gem! I would recommend it over the commercial catamarans anyway and will take a sail with Eduardo again if we return to Mazatlan. He allows you to swim off the boat or kayak if you wish. He provided lots of drinks and snacks along the way.

We'd been in Mazatlan a few weeks and I'd been trying to get some good photos of pelicans on the waves. From the beach it's not easy, but our sailing afternoon on Mi Casa was perfect for that. It was also a wonderful sailing experience for someone who hadn't been out on a sailboat for over 20 years. Kym and Eduardo were so warm and welcoming that it felt like we were sailing with old friends. Kym picked us up near where we were staying and then drove us back. the sailing was awesome and we went out to seal rock and bird island and saw an amazing variety of birds. I got my pelican photos plus more. On the way back, just at sunset one blue-footed boobie flew circles around us diving and catching fish. The experience of a lifetime. I highly recommend it. They are wonderful people and will give you a wealth of information about Mazatlan and the natural beauty of the area.

Booked this trip one day before and got lucky because another twosome cancelled. I went with my 17 year old daughter. There were only 4 other people on the boat and they were all in their 50's like me. I thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. I had great conversations with the other people on board, and Capt. Eduardo is extremely intelligent, unique and entertaining. He let us know right away that spotting whales this late in the season may not be possible, but honestly after listening to a few of his stories, I just wanted to hear what he had to say the entire trip. Capt. Eduardo is someone every person on earth should meet. From the very first minute you meet him you feel like he was your best friend your whole life. The only thing I would recommend is to not bring younger people on this tour. My daughter enjoyed lying on the sun deck of the boat, but she was left out of the conversation loop. Overall rating is 5 stars.

We got exactly what we were looking for with Eduardo. We booked his boat for a private charter in the evening for a little sailing, swimming, and watching the sunset. He gave us more than we could have asked for. We always try and avoid any of the tourist crammed, non-personal experiences while on vacation and this was exactly it. There are so many great things I could say about the experience: the tour, the snacks, conversation and overall ambiance that Eduardo works hard to create. I think the best way to capture the essence of the experience is to imagine you have a good long time friend who is passionate about boating, loves to entertain and lives locally in Mazatlan. This is a trip with that very friend!

We met Kym at a local restaurant in El Centro our first night in Maz. Our host recommended we take a sail with her and Capt. Eduardo on the Mi Casa while we were there. So being avid sailors, we gladly agreed. Kym arranged to take us to the marina, and we set sail to the trio of islands just off the coast.
From the moment we stepped on board, Kym and Eduardo set us at ease with detailed safety instructions and friendly attitude. The 44 ft. Mi Casa handles well, and pretty soon we were really making ourselves at home on the water. Sailing near the bird sanctuary is a great opportunity to take photos because of the beautiful island scenery. There were so many species of birds; we were really amazed.
Kym and Eduardo are a wealth of knowledge, and thought of everything to make the trip fun. We had snacks and drinks, and even an ocean kayak to access the remote beach. We were able to choose whatever activities we wanted during the trip, so it was great not feeling like there was a set itinerary.
We went sailing on the Mi Casa twice during our stay: once to see the sunset, and once during the day for sailing lessons and sunbathing. Both trips were exceptional, and I recommend taking advantage of this unique activity.
