Range of accommodations and fishing opportunities can make this a budget destination of interest. The lagoon provides the safest swimming opportunity, as steep grades on the sand beach limit safe swimming, though the lagoon offers options. Shops and restaurants are definitely fun to check-out. Easily strolls. There are a variety of small hotels to accommodate long and shorter visitoes. There... More

Good warm water. Beach has different surf of waves as is curved, less steep towards Melaque. Not very busy. Sunsets are outstanding and we'll worth it every night

Rode around the countryside seeing plantations, a crocodile sanctuary, and the Thursday market. Interesting, small village.

We had 4 fun filled days in the charming small town of Barra. We found it tourist friendly and very walkable. Colorful shops, bars and restaurants galore all very reasonably priced. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. TIP: bug spray a must

A 45-minute drive north took us past miles of beautiful banana plantations and coconut groves to the touristy fishing town of Barra de Navidad.

If you want a small town experience with a welcoming feel this is it. It is a mix of expats and locals. Good restaurants. Take the boat trip over to the small island for lunch. Fun.
