Great attraction about 1 hour from downtown Monterrey. The views from the mountain where the caves start are almost amazing as the caves themselves. They do have a tram to get up to the entrance to the caves but it was not working the day we went. Expect to hike up a paved path for about 40 minutes depending on how fast or slow you climb.

Heading out toward Saltillo a small sign lets you know where to turn as you wander through small winding roads (mostly paved) into the back country and foothills of the Sierre Madre. The route is adequately marked if you keep your eyes open, and since you can't go very fast that shouldn't be a problem. The area has fairly decent accomodations including a little diner and gift shop.
The caves are located halfway up a steep rocky cliff and access is afforded by an authentic turn-of-the-centruy cable car which proves to be a thrill in and of itself.
The tour guide is well informed and friendly, but the spiel only comes in one language - Spanish. However, you don't have to understand the guide to appreciate the fantastic caverns. The paths are manicured, maintained and well lit and the various rock formations, stalactities, etc. are worth any rockhound's enthusiasm.
Tours start around 11 am and run about every 30 minutes until 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. With the trip out and back, the tour, lunch and a pitstop or two, plan on a 3 to 5 hour adventure.

My family and I have been going there for years, and everytime we go it's like being there for the first time. It is a magnificent place and it will take your breath away. It really gives a meaning to Monterrey.

Wonderful!!! Just take lots of time..ride the Funicula...take lots of time..be careful..they have NO consumer product safety commission..their inner cave bridges are treacherous...but fun..all the narrative is in Spanish..and MOST colorful..in words and effects...we're gonna do it again in JULY this year...most astounding!!!

The place opens at 9am, ride from our hotel near Galerías Monterrey took 53mins. I recommend you to rent a car or book a tour, because it’s hard to find an Uber there when coming back.
We arrived at 9:20 and took the first aerial tramway to the mountain at 10am (I suppose they wait to have enough people to fill each trip) there is also a walk path ($50 mxn without the tramway ride)
The ticket price is $80 mxn. It includes the tramway ride, the museum and a guided tour into the caves. The tour lasts aprox 45mins to 1hour and consists of ~600 steps (but it’s actually not hard) it’s also not cold inside the caves so you are good with shorts and tenis
At the entrance of the caves there is a small area to buy snacks or drinks but just the basic thinks (beer, popcorn, etc)

This is about a 30 Minuit ride from Santa Caterina where I am staying. The cable car ride alone to the cave entrance is worth the ride. Wonderful views of the Serra Madre's. The cave takes about one hour to walk through and is overwhelming both in scope and size. So much to see. Be prepared for a lot of steps, this is little physical. The cable ride is so smooth I had no fear at all. I got some really good deals on at the market as well. I will be going back as there is more to see then a Day allowed for.

Pictures don’t do this amazing place justice. You have to see it for yourself. This place is super spiritual and very education. Most of the museum is in both Spanish and English so it enjoyable for everyone. The caves are amazing to see...

Desertic area near Municipio de Garcia. It's far away the city soy it is good to arrange a round trip from the city. Don't rely on uber for your return.
Good fare for a taxi would be arround MEX$1100 and the driver it's going to wait for you there.
For a tour you have to arrange for it at least 24hs before.
Nice place to visit. You have a guided tour inside.

Se puede gente handicap ir? Batalla para caminar
No hay restricciones pero el recorrido es 1 km de escalones de subida y bajada y con la humedad algunos escalones están resbalosos.
Hi, I am planning a trip through in December. I can climb stairs but not my wife. Is there an observation deck at the end of the cable car where she can wait while I do the caves?
