MARCO is contemporary art museum located in downtown Monterrey. You can go to there for a fun, educating visit.
They currently have the Rafael Lozano Hemmer exhibition, and it was soo interesting and fun! The exhibition uses tons of technological devices, and interactive rooms. I would recommend you to take a camera (w/o flash, though), because taking pics/video is a must in that exhibit. I had a lot of fun and could have spent hours walking around.
I takes you about two to three hours to finish (properly) looking around the museum.

The main exhibit has each art piece explained in both English and Spanish.

The entry is free on Wednesdays!!!

The museum itself has beautiful architecture and is worth a visit for that alone. We loved the provocative exhibits; as Americans, it was fascinating in particular to view several pieces addressing immigration by Mexican artists. We appreciated that almost every exhibit was by a Mexican native artist.

This is a great stop in concert with exploring the Barrio Antiguo!

If you only have time to visit one museum in Monterrey, make it the MARCO!

This is a spacious, cavernous modern building located at the end of the Macroplaza next to the Cathedral. The museum showcases international contemporary art, with a decided emphasis on latin american artists (and not just Mexicans).

I'm not always a huge fan of modern art which usually strikes me as passionless, antiseptic, and talentless. MARCO certainly has its share of exhibits that fit that stereotype, but they also have a lot of truly excellent exhibitions, like their recent perspective on the great Mexican artists of the 20th century. Even though many of the works were lesser-known works of masters like Diego Rivera and David Siguieros, they were still works of amazing depth and experience -- pieces that reflect insight and passion. I overheard one patron saying that to understand the works of people like Jose Clemente Orozco you must travel to Guadalajara and see the real master-works. There is validity to that viewpoint, but the works that MARCO displayed were still outstanding representations of the artist's tremendous talent, and I was mighty glad to have had an opportunity to see so many wonderful works of the great masters in one exhibition hall.

Thank you MARCO! Your exhibition of Mexican Masters of the 20th Century was MAGNIFICENT!

The MARCO was worth a look, many different paintings, they also have a water area that just looked like a well waxed floor. The best time to go was on Wed. as it is FREE, you can also jump across the Marco plaza and go to the monterry metropolitan art meseo (also free on Wed.)

I'm not a big fan of most museums, but the exhibits here were particularly interesting. The museum is small, but well organized and has a very structured way to see the exhibits. The two that were there when we went were almost mind blowing, particularly the second one which was a mix of art and technology. I would assume that the exhibits are usually of the same quality and it's a quick 2 hour visit.

I recently visited the Marco and found it excellent both in terms of material and presentation. I was fortunate to see the Josef Koudelka (the Czech Photographer) exhibition and found it stunning. The retrospective exhibition was extensive and it seemed no space was wasted. Also clever was the juxtaposition of a video piece with the photos.

Also see and appreciate the 'water feature' on the ground floor.

This was my second visit and I was very pleased to see that almost all exhibits now have an English translation next to the Spanish comment.
An improvement that in time could be made would be a comment on the actual piece of art as well as the history of the artist.

Overall though a must-see for any visitor to Monterrey

I am a mexican living in Monterrey, N.L. and I love that museum. When I first went to see it and saw how great it was, I couldn't help being proud of being a "regia". Today, the marco museum is the best museum in Latin America. It is a very lovely place with breathtaking architecture. It has beautiful art and one gets out of the place with a happy feeling and feeling a thousand times more cult than before. It is the best museum I've ever been to and I love the place so much. When I visited it for the first time, there was an art exhibition of Juan Soriano (he is the one that made the pigeon in the entrance) and I learned to love art and to appreciate it. Really, it's worth visiting. It has a lot of programs for poor children and poor women in Monterrey and I think that's a very wonderful thing because Mexico needs more things like that. I think that the MARCO museum certainly is the best one in Latin America.

We’ve visited this museum when was a gallery of Pedro Reyes which I really highly recommend both locals and visitors of Monterrey to visit this amazing art installations. The entrance fee might be 90 MXN but it really worth more than that if you are a fan of modern art.
