We paid about $50 per person for a private car to take 4 of us from Creel to this park. It is about a 2 hour drive. The view point is pretty wonderful but the 40 minute hike down (1 hour return, pretty strenuous) to the base of the falls was well worth it. Be prepared to get soaked from the mist but that was half the fun. We went in September when the flow was high and it was warm and sunny though it rained just after we left. Some of my photos could be post cards-it is that beautiful.

You can take excursions....we took the bus and hitch hiked. I know, but we're in our 50s, and my wife is from Mexico. We met the most wonderful couple from Cauatemoc, and spent the day with them.
Be sure and take time to see the falls from different vantage points. You can walk right to the edge if you go in from that side. Hike to the bottom if you can. Next time I plan to spend a couple days exploring the falls and this valley. It's off the beaten path, and is such a grand spectacle!

I just went last month with my family and it's just an amazing waterfall. It rained almost every day so the waterfall had a lot of water. The views were fantastic and I absolutely will go again but next time we will hike all the way down.

You can find different places in Creel that arrange trips to go to the falls. It takes about 2 hours to get there. The falls are amazing, the scenery around is spectacular. Going all the way down to the bottom will let you realize the height of the fall and the chance to sit by it, get all wet by the mist and to contemplate how amazing nature is. You can have a picnic down there. The hike up is a good workout. Bring water. If you can, bring an extra bag and pick any garbage you might see. There is not much really. But I guess the locals do not have a consciousness yet that compels them to take it with them.

A great place to visit during the rain season (july-October). There are two ways to watch this spectacular scene, the first one (which I recommend more) is watching the waterfall the front, you will have a complete view of it. The second one is taking the walk on the back of the waterfall, but here you will have a view of the waterfall from the edge of it.
Both options are nice, the paths to get there are pretty nice and safe.

On the way to Creel for a trip into Copper Canyon I decided to visit with my friends. I had been there before and thought they might enjoy seeing a waterfall that was over 850ft. The walk to the head water was scenic and clean, enjoyable. The fall was good, not a lot of water, but that could not be helped,it was not the rainy season.
The park area at the waterfall needs to be cleaned up, cigarette butts and some cans were on the grounds.
I had planned to stay at the rooms that were in the park. They were not available.
We went to the scenic overlook at the other side and it was a nice day but the smoke from a fire caused our pictures to be quite hazy. Not anyone's fault. We got some good pictures and went on to Creel.
Thank you for this opportunity, I will return, I am a writer and photographer and have a home in the Kino Bay area and this is my 5th trip to the interrior.

There will be 4 couples traveling to the falls from Hermasillo and I was wondering if you knew what lodging was available between Hermosillo and the falls. Thank you
