While visiting a college friend who lives in Baja, we took an overnight whale watching trip with Explora Baja. It could not have been better. Carlos arranged everything perfectly, from 6 AM Wednesday when he picked us up at our friends house near Todos Santos to our drop off there 36 hours later. We went on two boats for 3 whale watching expeditions. We were very fortunate to encounter friendly whales who swam up to us and let us pet them. It was fantastic.
The captain of the second boat was great and knew exactly where to take us. But the credit for our fabulous and memorable time goes to Carlos. Unfailingly cheerful, kind, knowledgeable, helpful, he arranged everything. Speaking perfect English, he answered all our many questions about whales, geography, and himself. He was particularly engaging with my friends 10-year-old grandson who was never left to feel excluded. He took care of all our meals and snacks and arranged for my needs: I don’t eat meat or shellfish and have failing eyesight. All 5 os us loved everything about the trip. It is seasonal and we hit it just right!
Go. Go. Go with Explora Baja for a wonderful experience.
Bring layers. It gets cold on the water. Brrrr.

Our family (Mum, Dad and 4 year old) had a wonderful day on the Sea of Cortez with Explora Baja! Dany and Javi guided us on the most memorable experience, encountering whale sharks, sea lions and visiting Balandra Beach for a delicious lunch. Swimming with the whale shark was a spectacular experience, that we shall never forget. We felt prepared and safe to enter the water with these gargantuan creatures due to Dany’s expertise and knowledgeable guidance. It was also important to me that the operation was led with integrity and respect for the animals who’s space we were entering, and I was pleased to see that Dany and Javi were strong advocates for these magnificent species and the strict measures in place to protect them. 100% recommend Explora Baja for anybody seeking a Baja marine adventure!

Christian and Javier were incredible guides. They were kind, extremely knowledgeable, and brought us to the exact right places. My girlfriend had (1) never snorkeled before and (2) badly sprained her ankle the day before our swim. Without us asking or even considering asking for help, Christian grabbed an extra life jacket and towed her along with him for the first part of the day. Made her swims much much easier—She had an amazing first snorkeling experience. After visiting the sea lions, we ate lunch that Javi had home-cooked for us. When the time came to search for whale sharks, Christian and Javi brought us to a veritable crowd. We saw at least 20, and swam with them until we were too tired to keep up. I’d heard before that people on other boats had been disappointed by only being able to be in the water with the whale sharks for a few minutes—we must have spent an hour or more taking turns swimming with them. It was a once-in-lifetime experience. Unforgettable. Thank you, Christian and Javi.

This was truly a once and a lifetime opportunity. Carlos and Javi were wonderful, and made the trip a breeze and tons of fun for the whole family. Swimming with the graceful and gentle whale sharks was awe inspiring, and breathtaking, very grateful for the opportunity. Added bonus was visiting Balandra beach by boat. Highly recommend the entire experience!

I would give these guys 6 stars if I could. Guide Dany was super knowledgeable and eager to teach us about the history and geology of the area. Javi was an amazing captain able to get us great views of wildlife got super lucky to see a newborn grey whale. And of course a great swim with the sea lions. I know these guys get good reviews for the ceviche (which was delicious) but don’t discount Javi’s homemade burritos they are amazing! Thanks again for the great day!

The guide, Danny, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the environment, history of the area, and sharing information with us. I felt extremely safe throughout the trip. Xavier, the captain, was easy to talk to, friendly, and he made ceviche for lunch! We located a whale shark and she was a fast swimmer. Danny expertly followed it, signaling us the direction to look and communicating with us to swim faster to keep up all the while he was swimming. It was amazing!

We recently stayed for a few days in El Pescadero and we could see hundreds of humpback whales every day from our hotel, so we asked the hotel to put us in touch with a tour operator for whale watching since we wanted to take this great opportunity to get a little closer to this wonderful animals. Our hotel proposed us Explora Baja so we contacted them on WhatsApp. Communication was very easy, within a few minutes we had organized everything with Carlos. They sent us a shuttle to pick us up at our hotel and this shuttle also brought us back after the tour. The tour itself was an amazing experience. We went with a local fishermen on his boat to watch the whales. We found plenty of whales which we followed for a while but suddenly we found the most sportive and motivated whale who started to jump right next to us for about an hour. What an experience!! Truly amazing!! After we finished with the tour Carlos and his wife Paula even put us in contact with the local fisherman so we could buy some of his catches of the day which were wonderful lobsters.
Thank you very much for everything! Highly recommended !

Wow this tour exceeded my expectations. Christian and Xavi were fabulous they made us feel safe and comfortable and they were very knowledgeable. The beach we had lunch at was so incredibly beautiful I wanted to stay all dat. The lunch was great too! Swimming with the whale sharks was a huge adrenaline rush and so magnificent. When they say swim with whale sharks they aren’t joking around. You actually swim right along side them. So you have to swim pretty hard to keep up! 10/10 would recommend this tour.

This tour leaving from Todos Santos was so wonderful. Booking was easy and everyone was so nice. We met early and they drove us in a nice van to La Paz. Our guide Christian was knowledgeable and helpful. The whale sharks were epic and it was so cool to see them. The boat captain knew a lot about the local ecology and also prepared our lunch which was SO delicious. We had burritos, lobster salad, green salad, ceviche and drinks. I enjoyed speaking with the boat captain very much and I am sad because I can not remember his name! The guide also shared some go pro footage he took while we were snorkeling . 10/10 would recommend this company.

Danny was a phenomenal guide. I ended up on a private tour, which was much more reasonably priced than other companies I spoke to. I got a great amount of 1 on 1 time swimming with the whale sharks and it was well worth it. Would highly recommend booking with Explora Baja! Great experience!

¿cuál es el mejor punto de Baja California para avistamiento de ballenas? había escuchado que era Puero San Carlos, ¿es correcto? qué otro lugar que no sea tan turísitico como Los Cabos se puede vivir esta experiencia?
Gracias.
