We spent 2 nights "glamping" on Isla Espiritu Santo off of La Paz Mexico with Todos Santos Eco adventures. The camp is set on a pristine sand beach on a World Heritage protected island. So pretty much a perfect setting for those who love being outdoors. And then you add on a personal guide to answer questions, educate about any and all of the endemic creatures and environs of the island and pretty much anything else you'd want. Then add real beds (very comfortable, basically close to hotel quality) spacious tents 10 feet from the waves gently lapping at the shell covered beach, and AMAZING food and drinks at every meal. It's a pretty incredible package and though at first the price point seems high, when you consider all the activities, meals and provided services it is very reasonable. It is a camp and there is no water source which means outhouse bathroom and "solar" showers if you want. The big event is the trip to Los Islotes to swim with the sea lions which was outstanding! Hundreds of sea lions basking on the rocks and playing in the water around you and WITH you. We also did a hike, paddle boarding and kayaking with sea turtles and snorkeling nearby. I would consider 3 nights, but beyond that you'd have to work a little harder to find new things to do. The organization is impeccable in preparation and communication. Our only stress was not being able to control the weather and if it is too windy La Paz closes the port and there's no way to get to the island. Doesn't happen too often though.

We just spent 3 magical nights at Camp Cecil in Isla Espíritu Santos with our guide Hugo, Captain Edgar, and chefs Cristian & Edgar. All I can say is wow- this has been a highlight after many years of travel in Mexico and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The extraordinary hospitality, incredibly fresh and delicious food, unique experiences and endless adventure with the most talented and engaging guide, and of course the absolutely stunning tents on this pristine beach. We truly became one with nature and feel deeply connected to the history of this powerful place. The only thing that could have made it better was a bit of mezcal and ability to stay longer. Worth every penny and we will be back!

We spent two nights “glamping” with TOSEA on Espírito Santo in the Sea of Cortez as part of a week long vacation in Mexico. The TOSEA portion of the trip was by far the most memorable part. The food was amazing, the naturalist guides were engaging, friendly and knowledgeable; the accommodations were amazingly comfortable; and more over I felt very safe and cared for by the crew and staff. The boat captain was an ace and navigated the waters on an excursion that was truly was an adventure! We saw more animals than I had imagined, the stars at night are unforgettable and the down time was some of the most relaxing moments I can recall in the past decade.
I was on the trip with my boyfriend and three teenage kids…they also reported that TOSEA was their favorite thing. In fact I was told over and over by all of them that this was the best vacation they have ever been on. I will absolutely return for another trip. I would recommend it to anyone…our fellow “glampers” included a family with 3 young children, a couple on their honeymoon and two friends. The group spanned in age from toddler to 60 years old and it was perfect!

We can't tell you how happy we are to hear that you and the kids loved your vacation with us so much! One of of the great joys of our Camps Cecil on the island and in the mountains is that they tend to attract like-minded people so that your fellow campers become another great aspect of the experience. Thank you so much for sharing your experience here and we are so looking forward to your return.

Our family wanted to provide a trip report on our Camp Cecil excursion from December 22-25, 2023 with guide Sergio.
Sergio, the Guide.
I can absolutely recommend his guiding knowledge and style.
Most appreciated, his flexibility to accommodate and care for my 80-year old Mom on the trip. She is active and adventurous, but we are still concerned about her safety. Sergio was able to provide the special attention (e.g. safe entry and exit from the panga, a personal tow with the ring buoy during snorkeling). But, he also was able to provide a daily itinerary that was active and interesting for everybody on the trip, ages 16 to 80. Sergio was comfortable with us, sharing dinner conversations and able to coordinate smoothly between the camp crew and our family. Overall, his tranquilo demeanor and humor worked well with our family.
Camp Crew.
Ricardo, Camp Chef.
Works culinary magic. And, from a tent on an island without electricity. We all enjoy the way he "introduces" each meal, everyone is curious about these creations. He is a keeper. Our family loves food and we all were in agreement that we ate best on the island during our Baja 2023 trip...a true, festive feast. And, this is in comparison to some of the nicer restaurants in La Paz. (Nim and Tatanka in La Paz can be recommended).
Abraham, Camp Operations Manager.
Can be congratulated along with his team. Introduced themselves to our family (great idea) and seemed to really enjoy their work and the environment (outside, on the island) that is their "office". Respect.
Overall, we all observed that Camp Cecil is the evolution of a mature, tested and continually improved upon adventure and destination.

We planned a girls trip to Isla Espiritu Santo with Camp Cecil for a friend's birthday. The staff was extremely accommodating and every logistic was seamless. The tents are so chic and the beds super comfortable. Martin, the camp chef, turned out excellent, delicious meals everyday. If you want to feel close to nature and the sea without sacrificing comfort, this is your place. We totally went off the grid and swam with sea lions and whale sharks, went snorkeling, paddle boarding, sea kayaking and hiking...by the time we left, all the urban stress had melted away. The guides and the staff really love their jobs and it shows. You and your experience are their number one priority. GO! you will fall in love with it, too!

I highly recommend TOSEA for a custom experience. We spent 4 nights and 5 days on Isla Espiritu Santo - kayaked, hiked, swam with sea lions, snorkled, paddle boarded, bird watched, danced and ate 3 amazing meals a day. The guides, Octavio and Paulina, were amazing - knowledgeable, caring, organized and flexible based on our needs as well as the weather conditions. They helped us fully experience all of the wonderful wild life and encouraged us to take full advantage of the opportunities available. The friendly staff and creative gourmet chef really made this experience special. Bryan was super helpful in the planning portion - answering all of our questions and preparing a wonderful itinerary for 12 friends.
The beds in the tents were very comfortable and the staff cleaned them daily!
We spend a night on either end at Los Colibris Casitas which was beautiful, relaxing and close to the town. I had a really fantastic time and loved every minute of it.

We traveled to Baja on TOSEA's "Glamping the Seas and Sierras" trip with our adult and teen children over the holidays, and we had an amazing time! Our weeklong adventure including camping at both a working ranch in the Sierras and on the beautiful Isla Espiritu Santo, as well as spending time in both La Paz and Todos Santos (at the wonderful Los Colibris Casitas). The accommodations were extremely comfortable, and the awesome staff prepared outstanding meals and catered to all of our needs. In particular, owners Bryan and Sergio and the team (our guide Manuel, as well as the staff at the ranch and on the island) did an excellent job of handling all of the details and ensuring everything went well - including the additional challenge of catering to our food preferences. Highlights of the trip included snorkeling with sea lions, beautiful hikes, and swimming with whale sharks. We loved Baja and TOSEA, and we'll definitely be back!

We traveled to Baja on a trip arranged with TOSEA (Todos Santos Eco Adventures). Baja was beautiful, the activities exhilarating, but the staff we encountered had an even larger impact on the success of our trip. Their consistently engaging ways, kindness, patience and availability to us was first class.
We were blessed with fantastic guide Andrea who was with us for our full 8 days. She played with the kids in our family (two between 5-10 yrs), helped my wife successfully swim with Sea lions, handled all of our odds & ends requests and was very informative of all the nature & lands we encountered. For 3 days she was supported (during glamping on Isla Espiritu Santos) by another wonderful guide, Edgar. He arranged an impromptu soccer on the beach game with staff and the kids, provided snorkeling help and was constantly checking what he could do for us. They both had wonderful personalities, passion for what they do, and a great "customer satisfaction" work ethic.
The glamping team (Sebastien, joyous boat Capt. Julio, Abram & staff) made our 3 days on the island wonderful; tents mere feet from the water's edge, unbelievable meals all day, kayak trips, and a sky full of stars at night was a dreamy experience.
In addition to all this was whale watching (we saw over 80 grey whales in a single day, interacting with many), boating with a huge pod of dolphins swimming around us, surfing lessons and a Mexican cooking lesson with exceptional chef Iker.
The 6 of us on this 8-day trip loved it. With time, I seem to only be appreciating it even more. TOSEA owners Bryan and Sergio and their team helped us to have a fantastic experience!

We were lucky enough to have Sebastian as our guide for a 2 day camping trip on the island and for a whale watching day trip. Sebastian was an amazing guide due to his constant care, enthusiasm for nature, ability to share so many interesting bird, sea lion, whale and natural history stories and information with us. The camp staff and boat captains. were wonderful as well. Lots of fun, incredible food, beauty everywhere and an unbelievable experience from start to finish. It was like being on your own private island. We will be coming back for more!
We also stayed at their beautiful casitas for one night in Todos Santo. We were incredibly grateful that Sebastian realized while driving us back from whale watching that they don’t have a restaurant and it can be very difficult to get a taxi to be willing come up the dirt road to the casitas to pickup people. He dropped us off to get dinner at the amazing Oystera in town (a must visit with equally amazing staff) where could easily have a taxi pick us up after dinner and bring us to the casitas. He brought our bags to our room for us and when we arrived at the casitas later we were greeted warmly and brought to a gorgeous casita. The modern casita we stayed in could have rivaled anything at a five star hotel. Floor to ceiling windows, huge shower, living room, comfy beds, etc. We fell asleep after stargazing on the big patio to the ocean waves and awoke to a gorgeous view of the ocean below us. After breakfast we hot tubbed and bird watched by the pool before our flight. It was a bucket list dream vacation and the TOSEA team was fantastic, especially Sebastian. Our only suggestions: 1) let guests know that if they don’t have a rental car it can be difficult to get a cab to pick you up at the casitas to take you to dinner in town so either sign up for the on-site cooking class or have your guide do what Sebastian generously and thoughtfully did so we didn’t starve after a big day of whale watching. Perhaps the team might consider a dinner shuttle to town for guests or offering Todos Santos food tour as a dinner option if they have the staff to do it. 2) put two pillows on the beds at the campsite. We just asked for them and they found some extras.

Such a memorable trip! Spent a week (7 nights) with my teenage son exploring Todos Santos and camping (well, glamping, let's be honest) in the surrounding mountains, then in the city of La Paz and camping on its beautiful islands. The food was absolutely delicious, whether at a local restaurant or home-cooked at our campgrounds. Happy hours were a blast, and it was great to meet other travelers and families—this is a very kid-friendly yet still-adventurous way to travel. (Lots of boats are involved.) Aside from the gorgeous terrain and fantastic food, our favorite part of TOSEA were their guides—each one sweet and funny and smart. They know their stuff and love their jobs, and ensure that every traveler has a safe and unique experience. High recommend.

Is Camp Cecil a good place for stargazing in December or does it get too cloudy in the evenings?
Written February 8, 2020
Isla Espiritu Santo in general and Camp Cecil in particular are great places for stargazing as it is far from any light pollution. Sometimes we get cloudy evenings - and you always want some clouds for magnificent sunsets - but December is not any more prone to them than any other time of the year.
Written February 9, 2020
If we choose the 2-night stay at Camp Cecil, is it possible to experience snorkeling with whale sharks on this trip?
Written March 3, 2018
Swimming with whale sharks is not included in the Camp Cecil experience, but we can certainly arrange that for you. The Camp Cecil experience includes:
* Roundtrip transfer from your hotel in Todos Santos or La Paz to boat
* Roundtrip island transfer
* Snorkeling gear and wet suit
* All meals from lunch on day 1 through breakfast on final day. Camp Cecil's Espiritu Xantu Café is considered one of the best restaurants in the vicinity of La Paz!
* Daily happy hour
* All adventures and related equipment including swimming with sea lions, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling, hiking, bird watching, star gazing, hanging around doing nothing
* Accommodations in beautifully furnished walk-in tents with real beds and lovely linens
* Panga support
* Bilingual naturalist guide who is a certified Wilderness First Responder
* National Park conservation fee

Is late January warm enough to enjoy the Camp Cecil glamping experience or would one be better served staying in hotel and doing a day trip at that time of year?
Written November 25, 2017
In January the day time air temperatures are generally around 75 degrees fahrenheit, and night time temperatures are generally in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Most of our guests find these great temperatures for both adventuring and sleeping, and we hope you will too!

RE: Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere Reserve Hike. My husband and I are in our 70's, we walk and hike, for several hours at a time, but am not sure of what "experienced" means to you. While fit, we are not mountain climbers. What is the elevation climbed? terrain? I would like to use hiking sticks, and we wear hiking shoes, not boots. We would like to do the hike on Jan. 31. Also we are staying at the Hotelito in Todos Santos; will we be picked up at that location? If not, where? Please advise.
Thanks, S.
Written January 16, 2017
Hola - so nice to hear from you! Please write to us at TSEcoAdventures@gmail and we'll provide more detailed information on the hike. Gracias!
Written January 17, 2017
How physically demanding is the Sierra de la Laguna 4-day trek? Husband and I are considering either the sea-to-sea trek or the Todos Santos Loop trek with Todos Santos Eco Adventures. We hike/ ski/ snowshoe/ exercise regularly in Colorado and are in good shape - but 'good shape' is relative. We're age 56 and 63 years, so not young. My deciding factor is if the difficulty level (miles, elevation change, terrain) is equal to/ more difficult than the Grand Canyon, we'll pass - but less difficult is fine. Thoughts?
Written December 5, 2015
The great majority of our guests who do the Sierra de la Laguna hike are in your age range, so you can put that aside as a consideration. The altitude gain on the first day is about 4,200 feet and that is definitely the hardest part of the trip. It's 5 to 8 hours heading straight up, depending on your walking speed. You only need to carry a day pack with your water - burros take the rest of the gear. The day trips from base camp on Days 2 and 3 are about 5 hours each and pose no significant challenge for someone as in shape as you both seem to be. If you do the Sea-to-Sea trek, the hike down on the last day has about 3,500 feet elevation gain and about 5,000 feet elevation loss, so lots of up and down. It's about an 8 hour hike. If you do the Todos Santos loop the hike out is 4-5 hours straight down. Please let me know if this answers your questions or if I can clarify further. It's a beautiful hike.

Should we bring a wetsuit in November?
Written October 8, 2015
Definitely not. The water in November is still warm from summer and an absolute joy for swimming, snorkeling, diving, surfing. And in the off chance it's cool, we have plenty of wet suits so no need to lug your own from Texas.
