We (3 fun gals) have never been to La Paz, and I had never tried surfing, so of course we booked a surf lesson when we got to La Paz with Marios Surf School and it did not disappoint!
Our instructor, Taka, was amazing! He was so patient and kind, and gave really great feedback to make it easy to get up. I was so excited when I got up on my second try!
After our lesson the beach is filled with other fun activities and bars. Its a perfect spot for families, couples, friends, and solo travelers.
We loved our day at Marios with Taka, and would 10/10 recommend to go here and request Taka to teach you how to ride those waves!

We paddle boarded from puntos lobos in the morning for about 3 hrs around the coast.
So much sea life it was simply epic. We saw loads of jumping and flipping mantas, curious sea lions came to say hello and we even saw 3 whales which is was quite scary being so close on a paddle board. It was just myself and the guide. We stayed close to the rocks to allow them to pass us with as much room as we could give them and we continued on.
It was such an awesome morning and a fabulous way to explore todos Santos. Definitely recommend!

Professional instructor, patient and very active with children. Our boy was with Arturo, he liked it very much and so did we. We were able to change the board during the lesson. A 2-hour lesson was enough for our boy to be able to get up on the board alone and catch waves. Congratulations to the entire Mario team.

I spend a month in Baja in February 2021, during which I took 3 lessons from Mario's surf school. It was ok. I was happy to have someone in the fray with me. The lessons I thought were just ok. I didn't find the instructors overly friendly or interested. They were simply doing a job. "Paddle, paddle, paddle, stand up". Rinse. repeat.

My partner and I traveled to Playa Cerritos with a joint goal, learning how to surf. After speaking with Odin, the manager at Mario’s, I decided to take my lessons with them. I signed up for five lessons and loved every one. I learned surf theory, how to pop-up and how to catch the wave. My instructor, Taka was always willing to give more pointers and encouraged me to keep practicing. They even allowed me to continue to use the board after my lesson was over. And while I am still very much a beginner, I am catching small green waves and getting some goods rides. Highly recommend nice people and reasonably priced lessons.

What a fun morning at Mario Surf School! There were 5 of us took the private surf lesson. What a blast! The instructors were so friendly, patient and calm with us and most of us were beginners. They worked with us and even I ventured out and although I couldn't jump up well, they helped me get out there and have fun.
Los Cerritos Beach was beautiful. We will definitely be back

Hey I was in los Cabos recently. Had a lesson at Zippers break but couldn’t figure it out. Probably cuz up I’m a slow learner. Came to Mario’s at Cerritos and had a two hour lesson with Odin. Super fun with several good runs. He is a great instructor.

I just came back from Todos Santos in July. This is my third time to Todos Santos, and my third time taking lessons with Mario’s Surf School.
Three years ago was my first time with Mario, and his school helped me with the basics. Surfing takes a life time to master. I’m 40 years old now, and hope to be good by the time I retire. Three years ago, I went out almost everyday for a week with the school. This really helped me work on the basics in warm water. Repeated exposure really helped me to focus.
The second (April) and third (July) times I went out with Mario’s School were in the last year. Now that I been surfing for a few years I can really appreciate that there are ALOT of things going on. As a beginner, it can be difficult to appreciate wave selection and placement in the line up. Never mind technique. Beginners tend to focus on just catching waves.
In July 2011, I went down to Todos Santos to work on my bottom turn (after you catch the wave- you turn the board to go with the wave) and wave selection in warm water. I first tried going out solo for a few days, and got “worked”. I was in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Fortunately, I knew enough about surfing that I didn’t get in anyone’s way (aka “Kook”- a total beginner doing stupid stuff that could potentially injure themselves or others)
I’d call myself a novice surfer, but after a few days of getting “worked”- I signed up for some more intermediate multi-day lessons with Mario’s Surf School. Since I don’t regularly surf at this spot, the instructors helped me read the waves- which ones were good, which ones were not good. And of course, they helped me with my bottom turn- giving me feed back. Another thing happened, my placement in the lineup changed. These guys get a lot of respect in the water. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that without them, I would have only been getting sloppy seconds and getting worked by the bigger sets. Each day after my lesson, I’d talk with the instructors about the things that I needed to work on for the next day. Communication was great. While the instructors speak English, it was also fun to practice some Spanish and learn some slang too.
Now that I’m back in the *cold* water of Northern California, I miss the warm water. It can be harsh where I surf, both physically and mentally. I’m looking forward to going back down to Baja. No need to have the other grumpy guys in my local lineup know that I have been “cheating” and getting additional instruction in warm waters.

We took two classes (my friend Daniela and myself), and we had a private class with Mario at Cerritos beach. These two classes were just enough to learn to surf from the very basics on the sand practicing many times the biomechanics and every stage movement until we stood up 9/10 waves!!!! We were so happy and proud!. He is an amazing teacher and we loved so much all the explanations. I think is very important have the first experience with someone like Marios that has been surfing more than 20 years. He knows the currents, the tides, the perfect spot to ride the waves and the perfect touch to push you and take the perfect wave. Highly reccomended!!!!

Having never surfed before I wasn't sure if I would be able to get up on the board, but Mario's instructors gave great explanations and got me and my girlfriend up on the board and doing some basic surfing in no time! The waves on the beach are big but break pretty far out, so it's perfect for beginners looking to catch the whitewater for an easy ride into shore. They have big beginner boards that are relatively easy to balance on. They provided an umbrella, chairs, and boards for us to use all day after the lesson too. Shortly after our lesson we watched one of our instructors rescue a kid who got too close to the rocks at the far end of the beach too! Was a great time and would definitely recommend it.
