Me and some friends spent the month in Cerritos and one of the highlights of our trip was getting to know Tacho and the West Side crew. Not only did Tacho give us a great deal on the boards, but him and his team served as our local guides throughout the trip, recommending surf spots, restaurants, and night life. There are a couple surf shops in the area, mainly West Side and Costa Azul, but I would definitely recommend going to West Side first before Costa Azul (much cheaper).
The surf shop itself is awesome and Tacho's wife designs these sweet T-shirts which we all bought.
Overall, great experience and really fun group of people to hang out with.

We rented boards from Tacho for our family surf trip in Cerritos. Tacho and his crew are awesome. Great boards, amazing service, good people. Best part of West Side Surf is the way that Tacho and his team's passion for surfing and the surfing lifestyle translates in the way he runs his business. Truly awesome. Highly recommend and can't wait to return to surf and see Tacho and his crew again.

The guys at West Side have been amazing. My son is an avid surfer and they have gone out of their way to offer the best board for his style of surf. The rest of our group needed chairs and umbrellas for the beach, West side took care of all our needs without breaking the bank. Talked to the owner at his shop up the road and was blown away even more with his hospitality and assistance. Highly recommend.

Be prepared to be taken advantage of. Young person wanted to charge us >$90 US for 6 chairs and 2 bodyboards yesterday. Was only able talk him down to $62. Felt pretty crappy. We come here 2-3 times per year and will be avoiding this company from here on out.

Tacho and Hector were great. We did a 4 person group lesson and they had everyone up riding waves in the first few minutes. They provided great pointers throughout to help us improve and it made for a really fun day. Definitely recommend using them for a lesson, they clearly love surfing and sharing that love with visitors.

We had the best day surfing with Tacho, Fran, and their colleagues. The waves were more rough than anticipated so they ensured everyone stayed safe with getting more helpers for our lesson. They had great energy and made sure we were having fun the whole lesson!!

Tacho and his crew are the best people in town! Stayed in town for a month and got treated by the West Side Surf School like family. They don't stop at giving you great deals too! They would always check-in and make sure we were having a good time and had everything we needed.

We had the most amazing experience with all the crew at West Side surf today. Two friends took lessons and my daughters and I rented a board and boogie board.
These guys go above and beyond.
I totally recommend for all levels of expertise.

Playa Cerritos is the best. We’ve been there for 6 days. It wouldn’t be better! Private surf lessons with your own coach, the best way you can improve your surfing! Canopy shade, snacks, waters and drinks were included. Free board during the whole day after the lesson. Tacho and his team were great!

When a family of pasty-white Canadians show up at Los Cerritos I had no idea what the welcome or vibe would be like. Tacho and his crew treated us like family and took incredible care of us. Tacho is very thoughtful and keeps safety #1, but a close 2nd is fun fun fun. They have all you need and are super well priced. I took an advanced lesson with Luis and I couldn’t have felt safer and in better hands. Go see Tacho or connect with him in advance before you arrive through his website or Facebook. He (and his crew) will make your vacation! Playa Cerritos is a true gem too. Get there before the Condos explode because it’s started. What an escape! Mucho gracias Tacho!!

Sorry to get back to you so late. Lessons are for any and all ages, young or old. We have small life vests for very young children if needed.
