This hike is a difficult hike. I researched online prior to coming here and it was listed as easy/moderate 2.8 mile hike. The terrain is steep and rocky; over 1100 feet climb. Not a beginner hike. One lady needed to be rescued on a quad. Bring lots of water, sunscreen & bug spray.
The trail head is very nice with parking and nice bathrooms. Their is a charge to park and use the bathroom. Don’t forget your pesos.

One of a kind experience! A must do!
It will take you in a personal journey...!
It is a long trail... 6 hours and you need to be prepared with lots water and lots of snacks.

The view is amazing and the camaraderie that flows from the travel is such a great experience.

Love it. Will do it again!

This is the tallest place in Rosarito. The hike will take around 5-7hrs roundtrip and is not for everyone, but the view from the top is amazing. It is truly worth it.

Do not take hike with Jesus cuen. Jesus cuen is a Scam artist. I provide his photo below. I would respect Jesus cuen if he wanted to wait in car. Instead he waited for us to turn hill corner to ditch me and my comprade. Karam will come for you.

This is the mountain prominent south of Rosarito. It's not so clear how to get to it. Probably the best way it to take the road to the Refugio roughly across from Rancho Santini. There are fire trails you can hike. You might take a 4WD vehicle but some of the roads are blocked. It looks much closer from the road. The summit is far. If you go off the trail the going is quite rough. If you're looking for a long hike around Rosarito, this is it.

This is not actually a stand-alone mountain. It's the southwestern lip of a huge ancient volcano. Check Google Maps satellite view to see where the volcano was.

Medium to experience level in hiking, great views from the top of the hill. I walk like 15km, for about 4hrs.

Easy/moderate hike to the summit of Cerro El Colonel. 360° views from San Diego to Ensenada and the rugged Baja mountains to the Pacific Ocean. Easy drive on hard packed dirt to the trailhead. Cool weather made for pleasant hiking. Encountered a herd of grazing horses on the way. I walked purposefully straight up the face of Cerro El Colonel. Steep and brushy. About 3-4 hours round-trip. Why? Because I can. Just do it.
