I can’t say how amazing Choya Tours is. Choya Tours provided us with an incredible experience. From Jesus who first communicated with us, answering every question we had, responding to emails promptly always very polite and helpful. To Jonathan our driver and guide - polite, respectful, friendly and very knowledgeable about the gray whale. To our captain Juan Diego who made the boat trip smooth even be though sometimes the water was choppy. Our captain was patient, he knew how to find the whales. It was the experience of a life time. Everything was just perfect. We highly recommend Choya tours.

We used Choya for transfers from Cabo and La Paz as well as for the trip to Magdalena Bay to see the grey whales. They did a great job on all the trips. Everything was on time, the drivers spoke English, they were responsive via email and the vans were clean and nice. The whale trip was awesome - there were so many, even at the very end of the season. The breakfast was really delicious too.

We loved our Choya tour! What a great experience. They are well organized both before and during the tour.

This was our first Mexican experience that was on time for pick up. We loved that.

Our tour was a small group so it made the journey comfortable and easy to have room to see whales on the boat.

They chose great places for our breakfast and lunches.

When seeing the whales we had a brilliant time! There were literally hundreds of whales around us at any one time. It was awe inspiring! I know each time will be different but think if you come at the right time of year you’d be very unlucky not to see any whales!

When at Port Charley have 10 pesos handy to use the toilet (they do have change).

The boats are very stable. We felt incredibly safe in them, even though small.

Hello, thank you for sharing your experience, we are glad you enjoyed the tour and the whales. You are right, the best time to do it is between January 15th, and March 15th, that’s the time there are more whales... Have a great day !

You must request Isaac Benitez - the best tour guide I've had since coming down to La Paz for over 20 years. Yes we saw many majestic beautiful whales but we also learned so much about them and the area through Isaacs extensive kowledge and outgoing personality.. The restaurant stops along the way are first class. A must do tour!

The visit to Espíritu Santo island was great. From the beginning you are engaged with the history and facts from different points of the island the tour guide Luis provides. Then you get to swim with sea lions very closery in their habitat, which is astonishing. And you get to eat a nice, well prepared lunch. Everything was great.

We did the Isla de Espiritu Santo tour and it was spectacular. We swam with sea lions and saw sea turtles. The crew, Alejandro and Maggie, were so welcoming and kind, as well as knowledgeable. They shared wonderful stories about the archipelago. We stopped at one of the beaches for lunch and they had prepared a delicious tostada de ceviche (there were sandwiches for non-seafood eaters as well). The trip felt relaxed, and yet we saw a lot. Overall, I highly recommend Choya Tours. Isla de Espiritu Santo is beautiful, but it made it an exceptional experience to do the trip with Maggie and Alejandro.

We booked with Choya Tours to see the grey whales. It's a long day trip from La Paz for kids, be forewarned. My two kids (ages 3 & 5) are decent travelers but getting up super early and sitting in a van for about 5 hours total in one day isn't easy (about 2.5 hours there and 2.5 hours back). There's road construction so expect to go slower than usual. Plus there's a check point which can slow things up.

The only downside, which I will say first, is make sure you know when breakfast is going to be served. We thought it would be fairly early, but we didn't eat breakfast until we were half way across the Peninsula and my kids were starving. Bring snacks! Luckily the bus had a DVD player with kids movies and my kids were transfixed during the long drive (a big plus!). The food at both of the restaurants (breakfast and lunch) that they took us to was good.

We got to the boat dock and our guide Diana (Deanna?) handled everything. Five minutes off the dock we saw a grey whale and her baby. They were in a playful mood and came right up to our boat when we splashed our hands in the water. Everyone in my family got to "pat" the whales! What an amazing experience. When they look up at you as you are patting their head, you realize how gentle and lovely they are (why can't humans be more like that?).

The boat guide knew a lot about the whales and other flora and fauna and we had a great ride. If you don't know at least some Spanish, maybe bring a small translation book (helps when you want to know questions like the approximate age of the baby whales, which birds don't go in the water, etc).

In sum, our guide was great, it was nice to not have to worry about logistics and have everything taken care of and it was slightly less expensive than other companies. I highly recommend them.

This tour is amazing! It is a must during your visit to Los Cabos. It is from La Paz city so you will have to drive 3 hours north or hire a tour with transportation. We drove, the highway is perfect and the price if you use a tour company from La Paz was one third of the cost compared to using a company from Cabo San Lucas.
It is a very simple but fast boat, with only 10/12 people instead of the 30 they used to take pre-COVID (it is very comfortable). The tour guide Hector and the Captain Alejandro made our trip great! They explained to us everything and were always stopping and searching for wild sea life (which is plenty here) such as turtles, dolphins, sea lions, etc...
Swimming with Sea Lion’s was the best part of the tour and one of my most amazing experiences in life! Don’t forget your GoPro because it is really worth it. Then, after the 2-hour sailing and 45 minutes snorkeling, we were really tired so we went to a nearby beach to relax. It was an incredible sea! The color absolutely amazing and the sand in the sea so white and thin, it was just perfect for a relaxing sunbath and swimming. We had a ceviche toast, actually the best food I had in a tour in a very long time!!! You have to try their ceviche !!!
As a bonus, we visited the mushroom rock on our way back and saw a group of around 200 dolphins!
Best tour in Los Cabos! A Must DO !!!
Super recommended.

I checked out several companies that do the Grey whale watching tour, and definitely picked the right one.
We got picked up from our condo early in the morning and proceeded to The Grand Plaza hotel for breakfast. The views are stunning from there, and the breakfast was very elaborate with lots of choices on a first class buffet.
We then continued on to our destination which is not Magdalena Bay, which is the place the majority of tours go to, we went to Puerto Chale.
The van was comfortable and clean, played good music on route, and Jonathan, our guide and driver for the day was amusing and informative along the way. He is fluent in Spanish and English so everything was repeated in both languages. There was a little stop off along the way for a bathroom break and snacks if anyone needed them.
There was water in the van for drinking.
The reason we went to Puerto Chale rather than Magdalena bay was it is less busy and they had found so many more whales there.
We got into our little boat and speeded our to the whale area, that took about 15 minutes and we spotted lots of whales along the way, but once we stopped the whales basically came to us.
They actually came right up to the boat several times and were close enough to touch.
They also seemed very playful and were swimming under the boat which showed just how amazing and huge these beautiful sea creatures are.
Our boat pilot moved around several times so that we were right in the middle of the pod.
We have really unforgettable memories of that day lots of videos to prove that it actually happened.
After about an hour and a half we came back to the van and travelled to La Paz, stopping once again for a bathroom break. Jonathan put a big basket of snacks out for us to help ourselves to because the second meal was at the Marina in La Paz.
That early supper consisted of appetizers followed by 2 tacos of your choice, overlooking the beautiful sea of Cortez.
Finally we were brought back to our condo bringing an end to this unforgettable day.
I highly recommend Choya Tours if you are going to do this excursion, I just can’t imagine any other tour being any better or even as good.

Wow, what an experience. We were picked up from our hotel and than transported to eat breakfast at a restaurant by the beach. Food was great. We then had about a 2 hour bus ride to Magdalena Bay where we set out to find the whale. It was so exciting seeing them pop up everywhere. The crew were gracious and knowledgable.
