Hurricane Norma threw a wrench in our sailing plans, but the Go Baja Sailing team was very accommodating and we were still able to complete our courses. We took the ASA 101, 103, 104, and 114 courses. Mike and Kim went above and beyond to maximize our time on the water despite a canceled flight and closed marina. Once we were out to sea our instructor Captain Tyler was a perfect fit for us. He taught us the ins and outs of the Manta Catamaran, humored us when we requested to repeat drills, and taught us about the local sea and island life we encountered. He was very patient with our learning mistakes, and had tons of sailing experiences to share in a way that were also bonus sailing-life lessons. Manta was equipped with Starlink, so we were able to stay connected and learn to use various sailing and weather apps.
The views were amazing, the people were fantastic, the boats were clean and comfortable, and the ocean was full of healthy thriving life. Sailing through the pod of over a hundred jumping and whistling dolphins was how the trip came to an end. Thank you, Mike Madlock, for welcoming us like family. We had a magical time.

We had the most amazing experience with Go Baja Sailing! My husband, 17-year-old son, and I completed the 5-day course for the ASA certifications 101,103, and 104 on the 45 ft monohull ‘Imagine’. Mike, the owner, and his crew Kim and Rafa went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Our sailing instructor was Doug Acker, and he is truly one in a million; a very knowledgeable, patient, and kind teacher, Doug conveyed his love of sailing and zest for life in general to everyone on board. All of our crew had some prior sailing experience, but we all learned so much more and gained confidence in handling a large yacht, anchoring, safety maneuvers, the weather, and navigating both with sailing apps and paper charts. Not only is Doug a terrific sailing instructor, but as a certified captain and airplane pilot, diver, and outdoor enthusiast, he made us all feel extremely safe and shared his knowledge about local fauna and flora, and the stunning landscape of Baja California Sur.
Doug imparted all the knowledge needed (and more!) to pass the tests during the course and converted many situations we encountered during sailing into teachable moments. We all passed the tests, had a lot of fun, found new friends, and enjoyed the amazing scenery and wildlife of the islands around La Paz! I highly recommend this wonderful sailing school!

I recently completed a six-night liveaboard ASA course (101,103,104, & 114) with Go Baja Sailing. Everything about the experience met my expectations; the company was organized, accommodating, and friendly. They seemed genuinely motivated to turn our group of apprehensive crew into confident skippers by the end of the week. Don’t even get me started on the location – La Paz was a beautiful setting for our week at sea. But hands down, the best part of the course was our ASA sailing instructor, Doug. He made the most of every teachable moment onboard and taught in a way that was fun and memorable. He made me feel capable, confident, and wanting more! Doug’s passion for sailing (and life in general) was infectious and I hope to take more courses with Doug (and Go Baja Sailing) in the future.

Truly, a great class! Not only did we get to sail, but there was also fishing great food and great friends. I learned a lot and had such a great time. I would recommend it to anyone. My instructor Iker and Chef Mar were fantastic to live with for a week. Easy-going and knowledgeable on the instructing and a great leadership style from Iker. Mar’s skills in the kitchen were second to none and we always stayed feeling good with a full belly. The folks back in the office are amazing as well. Mike, Raphael and Kimberly were always available to answer questions or to help out with hotels or tours while in LaPaz. I recommend staying an extra few days and soaking up the culture. It’s a beautiful city. I highly recommend the course. It is a wonderful time.

Take courses 101, 103 and 105 on the sailboat Dufour 45 IMAGINE, with my wife as passenger.

The course was taught by Captain Iker, great instructor very didactic, patient and great cook!!

Personally it was a great experience full of learning and experiences, sailing through the waters of the Cortez Sea close to the island santo spirit. my wife had a great time too!

We also had a wonderful morning of snorkeling in the Lobera, with the Sea Lions in the company of Mar tour guide and wife of Captain Iker.

The coordination of Kim and the Go Baja team was impeccable, as well as the provision of food on the ship.

Thanks to Mike, Iker or the Go Baja team for making this course an invaluable experience in our lives

My husband and I are pretty new to sailing. We took the 101, 103 & 104 monohoul course. Our instructor was Doug. The three courses were packed with information and Doug did a great job explaining everything and made sure we understood what we were learning. He was also incredibly patient and kind, and never made you feel stupid or awkward. We felt fortunate to have a such a wonderful group too. Our dynamic was positive and supportive. We all enjoyed sharing cooking the meals and cleaning up. Both me and my husband passed all three courses and feel much more confident to crew on a boat. Super kudos to Captain Doug. We definitely recommend Go Baja Sailing to anyone who wants to learn the basics of sailing and want to charter a boat someday. In addition to the learning, we also got to see some beautiful marine life. We saw a sperm whale breach near our boat, a pod of dolphins swim right in front of us and cute sea turtles pop their heads up. Oh, and we also saw many stingrays jump out of the water!

Baja is magical. If you can come down here to take a sailing course and then take a few days to sightsee and enjoy the delicious food, we highly recommend it.

My son and I both took the courses. It’s was a great experience for both!! Captain Iker was a fantastic instructor very patient and knowledgeable, a great teacher, the provisioning was fantastic with plenty of fish and shrimp on the menu, the boat a 45’ DuFour “Imagine” is spacious and had all we needed and very well maintained. Kim, Raphael, Mike all from start to finish very responsive to our questions and needs. The entire experience greatly exceeded both my son and my expectations. We chose to take the private transportation and the last night stay in a very nice condo Go Baja Sailing offers. Our driver Edgar was on point and met us at the curb at SJD airport and the marina to return. The condo overlooking this 5 star Marina Costa Baja has restaurants, a coffee shop, market, a beach club is very nice and extremely comfortable. We walked from the boat to the condo it couldn’t have been easier.
We gladly give recommendation to Mike and his team at Go Baja Sailing! We look forward to returning as soon as possible for advanced ASA training with Captain Iker including the Catamaran 114 course !!

Iker was an excellent instructor. They don’t make many like him. He is a great teacher. Patient, detail oriented, realistic, and passionate were just a few of his qualities. Mar made the trip exceptional with her cooking and her expertise with all the marine life. Iker, Mar, and Mike were also very generous and patient with one of our elderly, high maintenance friends (Todd) who came on the trip as well. I would never hesitate to recommend Go Baja Sailing to anyone at any level.
Also, Mike was a great communicator and more than willing to accommodate our needs. His whole team was great to work with! First class!

I had an amazing experience at Go Baja Sailing! Everyone was very welcoming and made sure that any need was met. From helping with the airport transportation to making sure that the covid test required to re-enter the USA was available as soon as we got back to the dock on Friday evening. Mike, the owner and his staff at the Marina (Karla, Liz and David) were super friendly and had the answer for all the question I had regarding the school and how to prepare for the trip. They always went above and beyond to insure that everyone in the class was happy and taken care of.

Our instructor was Captain Abraham and he was incredible! From the wealth of his boating experiences (he rowed on a kayak across the Atlantic Ocean) to his passion for life and all the things it can bring, like singing, cooking and sharing stories with the rest of the crew in the evening after the day of learning. He made the experience absolutely unforgettable and I know we will sail again with him in the future, since we forged a friendship in just the few days we spent together on the boat.

I can highly recommend the sailing instruction and ASA Certification I got at GoBajaSailing! Our captain Abraham Levy was very knowledgeable and didn't waste any time getting the 4 students totally involved with the complete sailing experience. I am so glad I opted for a boat larger than mine. The 45 ft Dufour was quite comfortable and plenty of work to handle. By the third day the four students were operating like a team, and everything operationally was less intimidating. I feel very confident now to handle my 37 footer. The food was great and the scenery was fantastic! Fresh fish speared for supper! I am so glad I did not opt to go with Nautilus, who wanted twice the price!
