The Fish Market is in walking distance from cruise pier, and it is just next to the “restaurant zone” on water front. I highly recommend that getting fresh or live seafood from the market and bring them to a restaurant next door for cooking. Although we didn’t eat there, what we capture on many videos showed all the seafood on sale in the market. Feel free to search an utube channel "逆難疫旅 HowFarGo"

Unimpressive! Some of the fish mongers are honest, most aren't. Make sure you check what they put in your bag, and definitely know you fish or you will end up with trash fish. The food served at the street restaurants next to the fish market looked good, but we didn't eat there. Parking is a major problem and the market is a little tricky getting into and out of.

I visit this market a few times a year to shop and have acquired a few tips along the way. For starters, walk the ENTIRE market even if you think you see what you want right away. Usually I scope out 1 or 2 stalls to come back to depending on what I'm looking for,

Always negotiate the price. Don't expect 1/2 off, but you should get something.

Pay in pesos not dollars.

Fresh fish is weighed "on the fin" - so you pay for the entire fish. If you just want fillets, they will do it for you, but you still pay for the whole fish.

Speaking of weighing, make sure that they put the metal "basket" on the scale before they weigh your purchase to make sure it is fairly close to zero. A favorite "trick" is to leave the basket off and have the scale set at zero - so when the basket is put on with your selection you get shorted (paying for the weight of the basket too).

Friendly banter does go a long way here. It can be a shopping adventure!

BTW - outside of the market are several small restaurants. The 2nd one from the street is my favorite. Excellent FRESH fish tacos that are very reasonable.

We were in there on a Monday morning hoping to get fresh seafood. Don't count on it! The first two stalls on your right as entering the market from the small parking lot appear to be professional, however, here is how it works. If they size you up as tourists (gringos), they figure you're not cooking in your hotel room and pull a bait and switch. They grab a piece of fish or whatever you choose and switch behind the counter for their old stuff before weighing it. The crab claws we had when we got home were spoiled (foul), the corbina water-logged and fell apart after baking (inedible), our friend bought the halibut but it was switched with ray or shark that was rotten and inedible when arriving in San Diego that evening (look in the black bag before leaving if you're smart, we trusted them, our mistake). We grabbed two small lobsters which were overpriced and of fair quality, however, I could have bought them in Los Angeles for the same price or less after assessing our first two loses. Bottom line, beware, we will never shop there again, this place needs fish police badly. These guys are con artists. We saw them bringing in frozen bluefin tunas from last summer, good luck with those. BEWARE, or you will be the victim of unethical fish mongers too!

I make a trip down to our friend casa in Rosarito yearly. We always plan a dinner one night during our stay to gather everyone and have a great fiesta at our friends casa! We bought fresh Blue fin tuna and jumbo shrimp and it was incredible. The tuna was caught that morning and we got it for a great price. I sliced it up into steaks and grilled it rare YUM! The shrimp we did on the grilled with oil and garlic in a basket and also boiled some for a shrimp cocktail. YUM again. If you want fresh seafood at go prices ..this is the place!

Freshest of fish as you would expect, but nothing special to see. I visit all the marketplaces all over the world and this one is small and average. Interesting to see if you have some extra time in the morning, but not worth going out of your way unless you are looking for shrimp for your Bar-b. Do not let them sell you a black bag full of lobsters, actually look at them or they will give you babies. Trust no one. Also those cards for free drinks? Those drinks are virgin they have no alcohol. Wonder why you can drink 6, 2 for price one margeritas and not get drunk, they have very little tequila. Be prepared to pay 4 pesos to pee. Mexico is beautiful and the people are friendly but the constant bombardment of people wanting your money is very tiring.

I have mixed feelings about this place. Here is the positive first: the taco stand we ate at was very tasty. Here are the negatives: you will be yelled at by all the people lining the street to come in and eat at their taco place (very annoying), the place reeks of fish (obviously) and the ground is soaked with fish guts and such. A guy does periodically walk up and down the street dousing it with bleach! If you are an adventurous eater and person in general, I would check this place out. If you cannot stand the sight of fish or the smell, DO NOT GO HERE!

I was so amazed and a bit grossed out by this fish market. Everything is so fresh and looks amazing. I wish we were staying in town and could have bought something for dinner. I’m not used to seeing fish in this manner and wow, it’s eye opening! The shrimp, octopus, oysters, muscles, etc are fascinating to see. Some of the fish piled so high you’ve never seen anything like it! Walk past it and if possible, buy something!
