- Heather M3 contributionsPut this on your checklist!Abel was awesome and very knowledgeable about the wines and the history of the Valle de Guadalupe. Thank God they had air conditioning! It was 94 degrees F outside! There are vineyards and beautiful views and feels like a special place with great ambiance and wine at an affordable price. We loved the Syrah 2022.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 20, 2024

My husband and I arrived before the other 10 in our group. We decided we would taste some wines while we waited. The bottles are set up on the left side of the bar to view. I asked the gentleman behind the bar if we could do a flight of the white wines. He says sure just pay the man on the other side of the bar. By now a group of about 30 had shown up and were gathering around. There was only one person ahead of us as we were getting ready to pay. The man in front of us stepped aside and then the 30 people behind us began to pass us in line as they paid the one man one by one. I went back to the other gentlemen and asked again if this was the only person that could help us even if we have a reservation. He said yes, they changed their system and now only the one man could help us. We decided to go out to the parking lot and wait for the rest of our group and I was talking to my husband saying their system sucks and another group of 4 said they were just saying the same thing. At this point I didn’t even want to stay and if it hadn’t been that we already had the reservation for our friends birthday I would have left. I asked the one man if he was the manager and he said I’m the one in charge right now. I explained how I thought it was rude to allow 30 people ahead of us and that their system was ridiculous. I don’t fault the nice employees but rather their system. I will never go back. The wine was just ok not great. The ambiance is generic and lacks charm as there is a big factory production onsite. If feels like they are just trying to churn people through but lack the ability to offer customer service. Not impressed.

We didn't have reservations but they were very accommodating, we choose to do the wine and Chocolate tasting witch ended up being the best tasting we've ever done in Valle.
Sommelier Tracy was extremely professional, kind, and welcoming, she made our experience very memorable, what a pleasure to go through the tasting with her knowledge and charisma.
Each of their wines and chocolates is unique and of course delicious.
Can't wait to visit Domecq again, this truly is a hidden gem.

Wow this place has class. We did a tasting here on our way through the wine country and it didn't disappoint! They told us they have new owners from Spain who plan to update, upgrade and even put a restaurant here. It is beautiful with flowers planted everywhere and the wine was delicious.

Abel’s knowledge and experience in the history and production of wine is exceptional. His explanations of pairings and flavors are wonderful, and you can even opt for a chocolate & wine tasting. Choose that one, trust me, you won’t regret it.

Excellent wine tasting experience in either Spanish or English from Abel. With the 6-wine tasting, you get a box of 6 chocolates, one to complement each wine. Terrific.

I personally do not. Not sure if the many tours the cruise ships offer, if there is one that stops at Domecq. Sometimes there are smaller tour companies that will take you and a and a small group on like a private tour of your choice, obviously for a fee. They is also an Uber called UberX who just takes people to Guadalupe, drives them where they want to go, and takes them back to cruise ship when you're ready. It's actually not that expensive, you can leave when you want to instead of waiting for everybody else thats on a tour bus.Plus is a few of your friends go you can split the cost. Good luck.
