This Sun Theatre, located in the heart of Yarraville village is my local cinema. Beautifully restored art-deco buildin close to Yarraville station and plenty of dining options near by. I love it because it has so much more ambience than the large commercial cinemas. They offer a wide range of movies, bar service and the usual snacks. Remember to take... More

The Sun Theatre is a wonderfully preserved and restored art-deco theatre with multiple screens (eight in fact!); it opened in 1938. Its in Yarraville, a now very trendy western suburb that has attracted a lot of hipsters and inner city trendies. I'd recommend a special trip over the Westgate Bridge (worth the trip itself) and a stroll along Ballarat St... More

It was my first time visiting this beautiful theatre. I watched The BFG in the Grande theatre. I loved the classic feel of the cinema including the comfy seats and the raised curtain at the beginning of the movie. However with the age of the theatre the reception, sales desk, toilets and hallways can be overcrowded and cramped

Loving the Art Deco looks and feels of the cinema..definitely a gem for the Yarravile already charming appeal. Enjoyed watching Finding Dory on their widescreen.

Only cinema I bother to go to these days. Warm, clean, small, offers eclectic mix of movies, great bookshop next door, multitude of restaurants nearby. Great shopping in the Village.

Full range of movies, very comfortable seating, small theatres. Love it. The only thing is limited parking for non residents. Plenty of eateries within walking distance, Indian, Asian and pub grub available. I have had friends visit and they are always happy with facilities within immediate distance of trains. It is so easy. Come visit.

This Sun Theatre is my local cinema which has more ambience than any Hoyts or Village. Built in the 1930's and beautifully located in the village of Yarraville. Very close to restaurants before or after the movie and close to Yarraville railway station. There are many cinemas with a bar service. It can be a bit "crazy" on Saturday, Sunday... More

We arrived early as we didn't know what to expect and I must say we had been pleasantly surprised. There was plenty of 2 hour street parking on a Tuesday afternoon and so we decided to purchase our movie tickets and head to one of the many cafes around the area. We decided on the cafe on the corner overlooking... More

If you are in Melbourne you have to go to the sun theatre in Yarraville to catch a movie . Even if you don't like the movie just the ambience of sitting in this theatre is enough . They have 9 cinemas . Four of the cinemas have couches and the other theatres are like stepping back in time .... More
