Excellent Art Deco theatre showing a wide selection of mainstream and less well known movies.
Excellent comfy chairs and you can buy booze at the candy bar to bring in to the theatre with you. Worthwhile going just for the experience.

It is a charming art deco cinema with wide seats and multiple cinemas. I came to visit for the first time and found it interesting, although my seat was a little hard. It is right among the cafes, restaurants, and bars and I found a great place when I left. It is also very close to the railway station for the journey home.

Gorgeous Art Deco cinema. Helpful staff, great range of theatres, from small & intimate, to large for the bigger ticket movies.
Great comfy seats, good range of drinks & snacks.
Truly the heart of Yarraville village. I wouldn’t see a film anywhere else 👍

What wonderful place to while away some time. Comfy seats, intimate surrounds, glass of wine...not too many movies offer such ambience or ......... I can take my 10 year old girl and she loves the quirkiness of the old theatres. Highly recommend the experience to all.

I took my family (wife and two children) to experience an old style movie theatre. I was not disappointed.

We took the train to Yarraville. The town itself is very pleasant.

I booked our tickets online. Very straightforward. We were met by the hostess at the entrance, who sent an attendant to help with our stroller and show us to our seats..... didn't expect that. The leather seats were very comfy. It was a real blast from the past. The seats, the curtains, the side lights, the short introductory movie before the movie about the history of cinema........ the whole package was very enjoyable. My little one still talks about the experience.

Would definitely go again.

Is this a joke??? Seriously. #1 in Melbourne??? I read something like this and wonder about the accuracy of reviews on sites like this. Note that all reviews were done in Aug: Sep. suspect by Yarraville council member. Trip out to Yarraville would only be if one were totally desperate for something to do. Cant even rate. Fine as a visit if ur in the area visiting elderly relative and have nothing else to do

One of my favourite nights out begins with a tasty meal in Yarraville, followed by a movie at The Sun. It is one of the best cinemas in Melbourne. It is a small boutique venue with a great selection of block buster movies and art house films. Each cinema is a different size and lay out, but all done art deco style. You can settle into a "love seat" with a bottle of wine and the best popcorn in Australia, and really enjoy each movie. It's a local treasure.

We stumbled upon Sun Theatre by accident on a trip to Melbourne, and love the place. We have visited the theatre on numerous occasions with others. It almost feels like a decadent secret to hide away. Recommend to others, even the seats are more inviting. There is a fee, but it's only the cost of a movie!
