A visit to St. Eustatius is really not complete without a visit to the Quill. The trail is moderate and manageable even for the not so fit. Nothing beats the feeling of accomplishment when you get to the top and the view at the lookout...More

Quill has some good, web-marked trails. Some are more difficult than others (particularly the two shorter trails along the crater's rim) but you get some great views and it is a pleasant walk. I did the 'around the mountain' trail as well, going north to...More

Glad for the shady path up the side with land crabs. Excellent guide took us down into the crater. Virgin forest, so huge trees. Found a snake who was unfazed to be handled.

Climbing the Quill is definitely a must. This inactive volcano hides a great rainforest atmosphere inside. A great view, but a definite work out. Make sure to wear good shoes!

I only walked halfway up, as the crater was closed at the time of my visit, but it was wonderful. I never did see that bridled quail dove I was hoping for, but it is just another reason to come back.

I'm not much of a hiker but the trek to the top of The Quill is one of those "must do" things on Statia. There are a few different routes you can take (I chose a moderate difficulty) and the view from the top (and...More

Great hiking trails in both parks - however still need some cleaning up since last year's hurricane. Check out the pristine nature of the crater floor of the Quill and wonder about the history of remains from stone walls, mills and cisterns on Boven

The Quill national park is maintained by Stenapa and they are doing a tremendous job. The traisl are clearly indicated, and the view from the top of the Quill is more than special. Well worth a visit. We did it with our children age 10...More

Three hours should do it. Allow extra crater time. Start early (7am)
