It is only a small museum - it has many fossils found in the surrounding area. Some are from animals that were unique to the area millions of years ago.
The museum doesn't cost much to enter - give it a go on the way to the tatacoa Desert from Neiva.

Hard to write a hundred characters about this place. It's a simple fossil museum, definitely nothing to write home about but for less than $2 entry who cares, check it out anyway and help the local community by doing so.

The museum was very small with 3 rooms. Each room had an impressive collection of artifacts collected from the Tatacoa Desert and surround area.
The staff were very informative presenting a 3min video, and then a thorough explanation of the past and evolution of the Tatacoa Desert.
Entrance was $5000 per person. And although the museum is quite small it was still a great stop. Definitely visit before going to the desert so you know what kind of fossils to look for in the dirt!
The museum closes in the afternoons from 12-2, so plan to visit either in the morning or afternoon.

If you have nothing else to do and you have spare time, go and check the three small rooms. It’s quite expensive for such a small place. Approximately 3 dollars to check three very small rooms with very few pieces, is just not worth it.

Small but nice staff and a lot of information. The museum is just in the centre of the town and very easy to find.

Humble museum but with a lot of passion, the collection is small but very interesting, the attempt to rescue the material they have is notable, I hope they have more support to improve their museum.

It's amazing that this place exists. It's a hand-crafted community museum, with tons of unique pieces from animals that lived in the area millions of years ago. Plus they are original pieces!!! Which they themselves have excavated! They have international recognition!
