Ao Nang and Nopphathara are essentially the same long shallow beach with a multitude of roadside shops and restaurants, and serves as a longboat launch. Sure you get some sunset moments, but there is not much to do but hop on a boat for the islands.

We enjoyed, that beach wasn't as crowded as Ao Nang Beach. Lots of good restaurants still. Beach is under a lot of construction, but that didn't bother either.

First thing to remember, is that the Thais don't really do beaches. It's a cultural thing that paler is prettier, so you won't find a developed beach with sunbeds, parasols or water closets. That said, the beach is both pretty and functional, with the long tail boats departing from one end, and the other for swimming. The water is not... More

The beach is lovely, quiet and with a beautiful view. The sea is quite shallow and goes out a long way at low tide but it's very nice all the same. Limited facilities but there are restaurants across the road . At the bottom end there are nice little islands you can walk to at certain times. Good sunsets.

The river which flows through all Aonang and collects garbage and (I assume) sewage is flowing right into the Nopparat Thara beach. The water is dirty.

This beach is way better than Ai Nang beach. I recommend to walk down to the islands much nicer there. This beach has huge tide changes you will be amazed.

Very narrow beach next to main road. A bit dirty due to rubbish and some construction works. Decent restaurants and shop along the beach.

Now a building place so not a favorite this year (2017). Both beachwalk and new hotels are beeing built so I'm sure it will be great when finished. Kinda hard to find shadow and ok sand. One thing you can do however in the afternnoon, when the tidal water has sank, is to look at all the crabs. Small armys... More
