If you want a quiet get away from it all island dont pick this one. Its quiet until lunch time when lots of boats of all sizes arrive to set up lunch time picnics. They leave little space to actually get in the sea

Poda Island is a beautiful island that we keep coming back for.
Despite the high season, the island never seem particulairly overcrowded. It's easy to find a "private" spot if you prefer that.
The Longtailboat drop you off, and will pick you up when you want go back.
The Island has free toilets and it is possible to but fruits and something to drink og you run empty.
You have to pay a fee (tax, 400baht per person) to be allowed to visit the island.
The beach is really Nice and there are not so many rocks in the sea (reef) .

You can reach easily Poda island from Aonang beach by boat, return ticket is 300 bhat and national park fee is additional 200. You will just have to wait while at least 6 people come for the same ride bit in a season it is very quick, it is 15 minutes ride from Aonang. Better go there earlier in the morning beacause the last return is at 4pm. The same boat will wait for you for the way back. You will be taken at the front beach just for individual trips and probbably won't be busy. The beach at the other side is for islands excursions and is crowded with tours if you come after 12 pm. But you can walk there to buy drinks or ice cream, there is a park as well. You can ask your boat driver to take you at the secret beach for some fee you give him extra. It is beautiful little spot at the edge of Poda island good for snorkling, you will see a lot of fish there.

Crystal clear green-blue water. National park so no development. We shared the beach w very few people do it had a feel of seclusion. We got there from the Ao Nang longtail boat cooperative. Cost was 300 Bhat per person for boat and then 400 Bhat per person for entry to the park. Just be sure you communicate with your boat driver about when and where he will pick you up!

A beautiful island with lovely clear waters about a 25 min long tail boat ride from Ao Nang beach. Be aware when sharing long tail that the group in the boat should decide on return time. We had quite a rough journey both ways however the driver handled the conditions with expertise. Great swimming and plenty of shade.

Part of a 3 island longtail boat tour of about 4 hours. Very unspoilt "Robinson Crusoe" island only marred by the Thai government's greedy policy of charging westerners 10 times the price a Thai local is charged! In fact we went on 5th December which is father's day and it Thai wife was free whereas I was still charged 400 baht. I've lived here 15 years and know that on Mother's and Father's, government entrance fees are normally suspended for all visitors. Grrrr.

If you would like to get away from the crowd and spend a day on a white sand beach you should visit Poda island. You can go there with longtail boat from Ao Nang in 15 minutes. People usually visit the island as part of a 4-5 island tour, so they are there only in the afternoon for 1 hour. It is really calm and perfectly beautiful.

Nice beach, at least 1 km long but boats bring tourists every 5 minutes and tour operators bring food at feed them which gets food smell and break tranquil. You can’t leave island until you took the whole boat with your friends. The worst thing - there is no catering apart from one lame place giving you choice of three dishes. You can’t buy booze on an island so bring your own if you need it.

We enjoyed much more driving to beaches near Ao nang and spending time there. The water there is as clean as it can be, nice ambience, abundance of food and drinks.

Finally we found it....my idea of paradise. The emerald green clear water and white sands were beautiful and looks exactly as brochures describes (where some look nothing like their pictures). We did this trip as part of a private 5 island cruise and Poda was our favourite. Although Tup island was lovely too. There are a lot of tourists but you can get plenty of space if you want it. There is a small shop which sells basic foods such as fruit/juices and crisps. You can also but fresh corn on the cod - apart from that unless you are with an organised trip your choices are extremely limited. However this is a stunning little island and a definite “do not miss” .

Poda Island was my favourite stop on the Island hoping trip. The beach is amazing with beautiful white sand and the water is an awesome blue. I’ve read people complaining about crowds but I didn’t find it crowded at all. Excellent little Island
