We certainly got lucky booking with KCT's.
Its an owner operator business, run by a lovely Thai man called Big.
We were based in the neighbouring resort (Centara Beach next to Ao Nang) so Big picked us yup from our hotel jetty and we set off. We chose the Hong Island Tour. Big took us to a number of beaches and all were beautiful. There were a lot of other tours operating at the same time, but big was always first to the best spots and knows his way round better than most and really cares about your day. The other tours, like the speedboat tours were packed and looked unpleasant, Bigs boat was roomy, comfortable and authentic and well captained by Mr Goh.
Lunch as fabulous, we watched other tours on the busy beaches being given packed lunches in cellophane containers. Big took us to a small secluded private beach and we were set up with a table on tyne beach. Big, who worked 10years as a Thai chef in the USA prepared 3 dishes on the boat, plus a lovely Thai dessert, the food was fresh, tasty and really amazing. we even had coffee to wash it down.
I couldn't recommend this tour highly enough, it costs a little more to have your own boat and very experienced and friendly guide/host/chef, but you are on holiday so treat yourself, its worth every penny, rather than being packed uncomfortably on a crowded boat with average food.
Every beach was great, Big had stories on the local area and the snorkelling was wonderful.
I am jealous that our holidays over and those of you reading this may well get the opportunity to experience this day in the very near future, have fin and remember us to Big!

We were picked up in Aonang by Big in his tuk tuk (which was part of the fun - our first time on a tuk tuk) and he took us to his boat, from where we embarked on our tour of Hong Islands. What a day - he took us to Paradise Island first, which really deserves its name - he got us there before any crowded started, so we were able to enjoy some tranquil moments along on this absolutely gorgeous beach, snorkeling and looking at the fish. It was like Paradise. We moved on to other sites, the most impressive of which was main Hong Island, with its towering limestone cliffs and lagoons. It has a pier created so that the boats do not pull up on the beach and take up space where one could swim. From here we kayaked around the island, which was great fun. We snorkeled in the lagoon, which had an amazing array of coral for its size. This site is where Big served us a freshly cooked Thai meal - he set up a place in the shade on the beach and we felt like royalty eating so well in such a gorgeous setting. I will never forget this tour - well done, Big!

Wow! We booked the Hong Islands tour with Big and his captain and it was the best day of our holiday in Krabi.
Big picked us up promptly at our hotel's beach at 1230 and took us on a tour of the Hong Islands, including the secret lagoon with amazingly beautiful green water. He stopped the longtail boat in the lagoon so that we could swim, which was a fantastic experience. We snorkelled at the beach at Hong Island and also visited Paradise Island. Finally, he took us to a deserted beach at Pakbia Island where he cooked us an amazing, delicious meal and pointed out just where and when to look to see a beautiful sunset.
The boat is well-equipped and Big provides snorkel equipment, water and alcohol, if you wish. He is very well informed about the islands and gave interesting commentary about things we were seeing and local wildlife etc. He knew just where and when to go in order to avoid the crowds and even chose the best spot for us to sit on the beach at Hong Island. He is a fantastic host.
I would thoroughly recommend booking Krabi Castaway Tours for your private island trip and hope to return to book another trip with Big and his captain.

I'm sorry Big. I know you rely on this for your livelihood but the tour just wasn't nearly worth the 3000 baht each. I have been on a few tours in the region and paid a lot more that the 3000 baht on many occasions but never did I feel that I over paid. I understand we were unlucky with weather toward the end but bad weather is not uncommon and shouldn't result in the tour being a disaster. Food wasn't to our taste and we did end up eating dinner on freezing windy beach in pitch black darkness. We prefer our prawns, squid, fish and crab cleaned of guts before being served.There was very little assistance getting on and off boat and there were times when I fealt very scared and unsafe on the boat and this is coming from someone who is an avid diver and snorkeller. The worst part however was the dirty boat. You cant have people come on a vip trip and have empty beer cans lying around and dirt everywhere. In summary we left at end of tour freezing cold, hungry and feeling very sea sick at end of night. Krabi is really one of those places that for like 500 baht you can get a long boat to an island and have them pick you up later and that is what I would recommend to any tourist planning a trip or tour.

Thank you for your feedback Imraan. I am very sorry that you were disappointed with your experience as guest satisfaction is extremely important to us. Unfortunately towards the end of your trip we did get some bad weather. As safety is always of paramount importance to us we had to park the boat for for a period to shelter until the storm passed. This resulted in a delay starting the bbq. I apologise for this but unfortunately we cannot control the weather. I assure you that at no point were you in danger, especially as you wore your life jacket for the entire trip, even when snorkeling. Regarding our seafood, you are truly mistaken. Our fish was absolutely gutted and thoroughly cleaned before serving. the only thing inside were Thai herbs for flavour, maybe this confused you. In Thailand it is common practice to bbq seafood whole, I can understand that if you are not familiar with eating seafood this way it may not be to your taste. Many of our guests have commented how 'spotless' our boat is so I'm not the only one who disagrees with you there. Thankfully you do not represent the majority of our guests who are very happy with our services and I think the rest of our reviews speak for themselves. Wishing you a very Happy New Year!

We got to know about castaway tours from our hosts and we were so happy with the entire experience.
We left in the morning and our intent was to visit 4 islands in a private tour with our family ( 6 of us ). We first went to a lagoon and did snorkelling and it was amazing middle of bluish green sea. From there we went to Hong island. It seemed like we were in another world. It was so beautiful.
I must however add that this place was really crowded. We did have a great time snorkelling here at leisure and feeding bread crumbs to the fishes which nearly jumped out of the water.
We desperately needed to use a washroom after being in the water for so long but there was no such facility over there. We were equally famished so much so that i was enviously eyeing the other tourists's fresh fruit platters.
Little had I known that as soon as I would settle down back at our boat - there was a lovely spread of water melon and pineapple which we all gobbled up in no time :)
We were to go to 2 more islands but unfortunately there was some shoot going on and we were denied access. We were taken to a lagoon again and we had lunch there. It is beyond words to describe the amazement one felt - sitting in the little island , surrounded by the lovely sea and getting hot fresh rice and thai curry and noodles and fish !!
We also did kayakying here and it was lots of fun. It was an unforgettable day and experience.
The tour also were returning some of our money as they were unable to take us to the other 2 islands. However , we were so pleased with the service and warmth that we decided to let it be.
It is a good idea to carry towels , beach mats , suncreen and extra pair of clothing .

My wife and I were on our honeymoon in Krabi. She booked a day tour with Big. Pretty much perfect. Big speaks perfect English, takes you to the best spots to see the beauty, respects "quiet time" (IMO some tour guides can be overbearing, Big is not), and is an excellent cook! Enjoy the Andaman Sea with Krabi Castaway Tours.

Starting from the booking with genuine and swift communication to the end when we were dropped off to our resort ..it was an amazing experience !
To have the boat and the time at our disposal was absolutely great ..
To add to everything the ever smiling mr big with a hidden talent of a Michelin star chef serving us a predominant veg piping hot freshly prepared lunch on a bay with nobody around ..simply private ..was icing on the cake !!
Would recommend this to anybody anytime ..
And god willing if we happen to b in krabi again ..will b with u on a trip mr big again for sure !!

Booked this as a surprise for my wife on her birthday and our wedding anniversary .checked out reviews on tripadvisor whilst in krabi and this one came out tops .we hired the longboat just for the two of us for a 4 island trip with lunch .easy to communicate with krabi castaway tours we asked if they can supply us with cold beers on our trip which they supplied at a cost .picked us up on the beach at dusti and on the way on the boat they said that the trip and what we wanted to do was down to us .not only did we have ice cold beers we also was offered cold fruit drinks water fresh fruit and when we reached our 3 from last island ,we was taken to a remote idyllic beach where we was cooked a lovely Thai meal "excellant" .
Also taken to a remote part of the island to do some snorkelling and sunbathe this was a fantastic day trip out with excellant caring helpful staff on the boat who made it a day to remember and to see 4 lovely island sightseeing tour would definitely recommend this company to anyone who want to island hop

The title says it all
Mr Big was very prompt with his responses when I sent him a mail enquiring about the tour and gave me detailed reply and explained what will be covered in the tour and time taken and cost of the tour
Also requested us our preferences for the meal as we were vegetarian he didn’t have any issues with it and accommodated our request
Upon payment of advance via PayPal he confirmed our tour and had sent someone to pick us up at the hotel at sharp 8 am
Upon arrival at the bay we bought some beer from the market near by and boarded in his long tail boat
He summarized our group of 6 with the plan for day and first took us to Tup island if I still remember the name correctly ... as in the morning the tides were low so we could walk from one island to other as it’s very shallow
The we went to see the chicken island and he took us to the small beach in there and as it was early the beach was all to ourselves and it felt like a private beach for us
The place was pristine and white sand beach
Here we spent almost 45 minutes to do snorkeling and it was good
Mr Big even helped one person in our group who was afraid and was with her all time and helped her with snorkelling
He was never pushy or in rush to move from one place to other and gave us enough time at each island
Then we went to Poda island which was very crowded one one side with lot of boats getting all the tourists ..this island has restrooms etc
So Mr Big took us to other side of the island where we had the beach to ourselves
It is here that he prepared delicious food for us ... Thai veg curry, salads drink fruits rice and few other things ... we loved the food
Here also he gave us option for snorkelling but it was hot and we skipped it ... we rested for some time and then moved on to Railey beach
This is also a good beach and you can walk here to see different silt formations and it has the temple of fertility
Lot of people were doing rock climbing here
We finished our day with this beach and returned back to krabi
The tides were little high on way back but M Big comforted us and we had a great day
Highly recommend you to take the 4 island tour with Mr Big
He is a perfect gentleman and paying little extra to get your own custom tour is worth every penny
He never rushed us we took our own time and he recommended great spots on every island to have our little own private beach

Wow- what can I say. We did the Hong Island Trip today, myself, husband and two grown up kids.
We were picked up at 8.00am and driven to the boat. After a 45 minute trip we arrived at Hong Island, which was really quiet with few tourists. It is a beautiful place. Snorkeling was good and beach mats were provided for us. One of "Big's" crew brought us fresh fruit on the beach. We left as boat loads of tourists started to arrive.
We then moved on to another island and Big cooked us lunch. We sat on beach mats round a little table and ate the most amazing food. 3 of us are vegetarians and the other allergic to fish but Big catered for all our needs.
We visited one last island and had cakes on the way home.
Big and his crew really looked after us today, helping us in and out of the boat, carrying our bags and putting beach mats down for us. It was so worth paying the extra money for a tour on our own. I cannot recommend it enough.
