This an interesting place that has a sand bank linking three different islands. You can walk along the sand bank if the tide is low. The trick is to join a tour that gets you here early to avoid the crowds. Some beautiful surroundings that make you trigger happy with a camera (at least I was!!).

During our sunset tour we stopped at Thale Waek, which is an small tiny islands that are divided by a bank of Sand, the place is beautiful, water is just warm and clear but the only way to get here is on a tour or if you have your own boat, place gets crowded since it's one of the stops along the route to Chicken and Poda Islands.
Don't get me wrong, it's all worth it, again the place is beautiful but since there's nothing else to do I can't give it a 5 star review.
You'll stop here for an hour or less depending on your tour and get to enjoy the scenery, it's like being in the middle of the ocean on a piece of land.
Overall really enjoy our time at Thale Waek, the place, views and beach makes it worth a visit while in Krabi.

We reached Koh Tub about noon as part of our 4 Island Tour. There were many people and boats there. We paid the national park fees (400THB for adults, 200THB for child) to our boatman and waded across the hip-high water to another small island, Thale Waek. The water was very clear and we could see schools of small fish but we kept our distance from the needlefish which looked like swordfish! We did not snorkel there as we had already done so at Koh Gai. We only stayed for half an hour.

Nice view even when it doesn't have a sand bank. It is not so far from the pier so it's not as tired as a full day snorkeling trip. For foreigners, you have to pay a nation park fee once you get there.

Thale waek is a point when going to chicken and poda islands. Good clear water and a beautiful spot to click good pictures. May sometimes get crowded due a lot of tour stops.
