We had lovely autumn weather to visit this beautiful location. There are great views to keep walkers and photographers happy. It was quite busy with school parties at the start of the walk from the car park to the lake but we soon found a tranquil spot. The toilet and other facilities are poor but that did not distract from a great visit.

Visited lake Issyk during our group tour to Almaty. It was not on original schedule for its frozen and.road also not motorable for.heavy snowing on mountains. Yet we decided to go first in keeps but later took our. mini bus. Natural geological office advised to take.care as roads were totally snow covered. Yet we reached there with our perfect n experienced driver. First time in life saw small shiny particles reflecting in snow it was an.eye treat. Also coloured snow.at places. The lake.is.surroumded by mountain all frozen just one small visible water hole at centre. We all walked to centre with knee deep snow. At centre the snow.layer was very thin so we were advised to keep distance. Again uphill walk in snow.to reach our bus was a very tiring job. Somehow managed . Overall a very pleasant beautiful scenery and.experience. one should not miss it.

We live in Almaty, and could have gone to Big Lake Almaty for the same "blue lake experience", but I enjoyed Esik so much more! A) you are allowed to go down to the lake and walk along it's shore (unlike Big Lake Almaty) and B) it was WAY less crowded. We had some incredible views on a beautiful blue-sky day!

It’s about 69 km far from Almaty but traffic is a big issue. Almost 2 hours to reach there. Fees for car entrance, then fees for bus to drop you down to the lake. Wow what a beautiful nature, amazing clear water or lake between mountains, snow at the top view, few ducks in the lake, less activity to do. Many people come and spend like half day with families and friends. Try horse ride, stop for photos and that’s it. 2-3 hours is more than enough.

We went there as a family, it is located in a beautiful setting with mountains in the background, the water is aqua blue due to minerals and very cold, it's not good for swimming, but a beautiful place to see the nature, for hiking and to have a picnic. Highly recommend.

The lake is surrounded by mountains and is on a hill top. The water seems to be greenish and one can take a ride on a boat. This was costly and we did not venture. Lots of School children were there. It is considered as a Summer Camp spot for visit.

This is a wonderful park. The lake is quite beautiful with a number of trails that allow one to walk around the lake. The best park is the ability to take a dip or relax on the edge while dipping your feet into the cold mountain waters. We had a tour guide for this excursion which made the 1.5 hour trip for Almaty very easy. In addition, he was able to steer us for lunch at a great restaurant.

After about an hour drive from Almaty we reached to this gorgeous lake, it’s amazingly located on top of the mountain and between even higher mountains which makes a spectacular view .
I suggest to bring along some barbecue and go on a picnic next to the lake, there’s some seating area and even a swing and another kids game plus some sheds to set underneath Incase it was a sunny day.

We visited this lake on a Monday. We were all alone for most of the time. It was raining though not heavily so it was a nice time to visit. Lake looked similar to Big Almaty lake except this was somewhere far from Almaty. worth a visit if you want to go to a less crowded place and enjoy the natural beauty around almaty.

Landscaping of Big Almaty lake was better.
